Final Meeting of the Second Cycle of the Periodic Reporting Exercise for Latin America and the Caribbean, 3-5 December 2012, Santiago, Chile
In the framework of Document WHC-12/36.COM/10C and Decision 36 COM 10C adopted by the World Heritage Committee at its 36th session (Saint Petersburg, 2012), the final meeting of the Second Cycle of the Periodic Reporting Exercise for Latin America and the Caribbean will take place in Santiago de Chile, Chile from 3-5 December 2012.
As the final meeting for the Region, it will involve the participation of more than one hundred people among them focal points, site managers and Ambassadors representing twenty-five countries from all three sub-regions in Latin America and the Caribbean – the Caribbean, South America, and Central America and Mexico, and follows on from a cycle of sub regional meetings held in Santo Domingo, Mexico and Brazil. Sub regional organizations and the Advisory Bodies will participate in the event as well.
The organization of this meeting is the result of the significant effort carried out by the Chilean national institutions (Chilean Government, Ministry of External relations, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture, National Monuments Board and the Direction of Libraries, Archives and Museums), with support provided by the Latin America and the Caribbean Unit of the World Heritage Centre and the UNESCO Office in Santiago.
The primary objectives of this meeting will be the development of the 2013-2020 Regional Action Plan and also the preparation of a final report on the results of the Second Cycle to be presented to the World Heritage Committee at its 37th session in 2013. The meeting will also present the opportunity to identify priority lines and projects for regional cooperation relating to World Heritage.
The meeting will be held at the Campus of one of the main universities of the country: la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, in Santiago.

1. Ayant examiné le document WHC-12/36.COM/10C,
2. Rappelant les décisions 28 COM 16, 7 EXT.COM 5E, 29 COM 5, 30 COM 11E, 32 COM 11D, 34 COM 10B.2 et 35 COM 10B adoptées respectivement lors de ses 28e (Suzhou, 2004), 7e extraordinaire (UNESCO, 2004), 29e (Durban, 2005), 30e (Vilnius, 2006), 32e (Québec, 2008), 34e (Brasilia, 2010) et 35e (UNESCO, 2011) sessions,
3. Reconnait les informations présentées sur les progrès accomplis dans la mise en œuvre du deuxième cycle de l'exercice de soumission de rapports périodiques dans la Région Amérique latine et Caraïbes (LAC) et félicite les États parties des efforts accomplis afin d'atteindre les objectifs fixés dans le cadre du calendrier établi ;
4. Félicite les États parties de la Région LAC de leur implication active et de leur engagement dans l'exercice de soumission de rapports périodiques ;
5. Remercie les États parties de République dominicaine, du Brésil et du Mexique de leur contributions financières et en nature pour l'organisation des réunions sous-régionales;
6. Accueille favorablement l'aide financière à l'exercice de soumission de rapports périodiques, apportée par le fonds en dépôt espagnol pour le patrimoine mondial, les Centres de Catégorie 2, les États parties et les Organisations Consultatives, et les encourage à poursuivre cette aide pour la mise en œuvre de ce processus ;
7. Prend note des progrès accomplis dans le cadre du projet Qhapaq Ñan, coordonné par le Centre du patrimoine mondial, et de la fructueuse coopération entre les institutions nationales issues des différents États parties impliqués visant à faire de cette collaboration une pratique d'excellence pour d'autres propositions d'inscriptions transnationales ou d'inscription de bien en série, comme demandé par la décision 31 COM 12B ;
8. Demande aux États parties de la Région d'Amérique latine et des Caraïbes de compléter et de remettre les questionnaires sur la soumission de rapports périodiques au Centre du patrimoine mondial avant le 31 juillet 2012 ;
9. Demande également au Centre du patrimoine mondial de remettre un rapport final sur les résultats du deuxième cycle d'exercice de soumission de rapports périodiques pour l'Amérique latine et les Caraïbes, pour examen par le Comité du patrimoine mondial à sa 37e session en 2013.
