About us
Founded in 1908 by Sir Charles Wyndham, Society of London Theatre (SOLT) represents the producers, theatre owners and managers of the major commercial and grant-aided theatres in central London. SOLT combines its long-standing roles in such areas as industrial relations and legal advice for members with a campaigning role for the industry, together with a wide range of audience-development programmes. Services include: - Advice on legal, general and industrial relations matters - Managing the process of collective bargaining with the entertainments trade unions - Providing commercial services of benefit to the membership as a whole - Promoting theatre-going to the widest possible audience - Representing to the wider public, and to public and other relevant authorities, the interests of the theatre industry as a whole - Research on behalf of the industry as a whole Consumer facing work includes: - the industry’s leading website OfficialLondonTheatre.com - the TKTS ticket booth in Leicester Square - audience development promotions including Kids Week and the New Year Sale - career and education initiatives including TheatreCraft and Inspiring Future Theatre - the only Theatre Tokens gifting scheme - the biggest events in the theatre calendar including the Olivier Awards with Mastercard and West End LIVE --- Founded in 1894, UK Theatre has traditionally supported theatre organisations and now also helps individuals who work professionally in the performing arts at all stages of their career. We offer five types of membership including special schemes for sole traders, suppliers of goods and services to the industry and concert halls. Our members benefit from access to a range of professional services, high quality training and events, and networking opportunities. As well as running the only awards scheme to recognise excellence in theatre throughout the UK, we lead audience development programmes and actively campaign on behalf of theatres and their audiences.

Matthew Bourne's New Adventures launches Swan Lake Take Flight, a community dance project centred around wellbeing. The programme will reach 2,500 young people in the UK with dance workshops and theatre experience days based on Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake. As part of this programme over 400 young people will see Swan Lake in their local theatre with their parent/carer. #TheatreForEveryChild

Sing, Dance, Leap is a major creative initiative commissioned by Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture with Royal Ballet and Opera, Opera North & Northern Ballet. 2,000 primary school students will inspire the creation of new music, choreography & performance elements in a series of collaborative workshops, to be performed live at a mass participation concert next year. #TheatreForEveryChild

This month Fiery Angel Limited & The King's Theatre & Theatre Royal Glasgow teamed up with Avanti West Coast to play host to a group of sixth form students from Carlisle, who travelled to see Murder on the Orient Express as part of the Feel Good Field Trip campaign. Students were given a tour with venue staff, followed by workshops with the cast and production team to give them an insightful perspective on the variety of careers within the theatre industry. #TheatreForEveryChild 📷 Julie Howden
