==Introducing myself==
Well, since I've come here and am starting to be a little bit active, I should probably introduce myself. I'm Adam Cuerden, I'm fairly active at the Seçkin resim equivalent at English Wikipedia, specialising in restoring old photographs and preparing and cleaning up things like engravings and such. It's a hobby. I've been aware of the Turkish "Seçkin resim" for about... 8 years, maybe, ever since Durova told me some of her work had passed here, to her surprise.

I don't speak Turkish; I speak English, a bit of Spanish, and can to some small extent read written German, Dutch, and Italian, in the "I can guess at what it's talking about" sort of way. However, translation tools are getting better - not ideal by any means, but better - so I thought it's probably time to try and see what people not on English Wikipedia want in images. I mean, I could try Commons, but, frankly, with Commons' featured picture candidates... I have never been able to figure out the logic between which of my images get overwhelming support there, and which will get three to five supports, no opposes, but close as failed because there weren't enough votes. So, I figure, I'll try looking into other Wikipedias.

And, honestly, I would like to help illustrate Turkish Wikipedia, if I can get some idea of what's needed. So if anyone has any suggestions, please tell me. If you want to know what sort of things I do, [[:en:User:Adam Cuerden]] has the sixty-three English Wikipedia FPCs from this year at the top; it's a mixture of things I've scanned from my personal collection, and things from various archives I have access to.

Speaking of archives, I can recommend http://www.loc.gov/pictures/ as a source. American Federal Government work is public domain, so any scans done by the Library of Congress are completely free to use, and they have a huge archive of scans to choose from. One bit of advice, though: The JPEGs from the Library of Congress are far, far lower resolution than the TIFFs they offer. In any case, if anyone sees anything they'd like me to do, let me know.

In any case, I hope you don't mind me coming here, and I hope I can help out somehow.

Cheers,
