Pate
Pate ni kisiwa kikubwa cha funguvisiwa la Lamu mbele ya pwani ya Kenya katika Bahari Hindi. Pate ni kisiwa ambacho ni karibu na Somalia.
Wakati ya maji kujaa Pate inagawanywa katika sehemu mbili kwa mtaro wa bahari karibu na Siyu; wakati wa maji kupwa mtaro huwa pakavu.
Historia
haririPate ilikuwa kati ya mahali pa kwanza kutembelewa na wafanyabiashara Waarabu, labda kuanzia karne ya 7 BK. Inawezekana ilikuwa tayari kati ya mahali palipotajwa katika taarifa za kale kuhusu Azania kama vile Periplus ya Bahari ya Eritrea.
Kisiwa cha Pate kilikuwa mahali pa miji muhimu ya Waswahili Pate, Siyu na Faza iliyoshindana na mji wa Lamu juu ya kipaumbele katika funguvisiwa.
Katika karne ya 19 umuhimu wa miji hiyo ilirudi nyuma na kisiwa kilikuwa sehemu ya dola la Usultani wa Zanzibar.
Siku hizi Faza ni kijiji kikubwa cha Pate chenye hospitali ndogo, polisi, nyumba ya wageni, shule ya sekondari na maduka.
Mwaka 2004 palikuwa na gari moja tu kisiwani, yaani gari la hospitali.
