YouTube Operations Guide

Check your YouTube Analytics data

These features are only available to partners who use YouTube Studio Content Manager.
You can monitor the performance of your videos, channels, and assets using YouTube Analytics. This article highlights the metrics and features of YouTube Analytics that are most useful to Content Manager users. Keep in mind there can be a delay of a few days before data is viewable in YouTube Analytics.

Get data about your assets

Asset analytics show you how your assets are performing. You can see which assets are gaining in popularity, compare performance to other assets, and discover the top videos driving asset performance. This data is available daily, but can have a delay of a few days. To view data on your assets:

  1. Sign in to Studio Content Manager.
  2. From the left menu, select Analytics .
  3. In the Overview tab, go to the Top movers section. This section shows the videos, channels, and assets whose data has changed the most in the last 7 days.
  4. Click the Assets tab and choose an action:
    • Click an asset to get data on that particular asset.
    • Hover over an asset and click the compare  icon to compare the asset’s performance from the last 7 days with the previous 7-day period.
You can also get this data from the Assets page by clicking an asset title then the Analytics tab.
When looking at Views data, you may notice different numbers in YouTube Analytics compared to your asset performance report. This is because:
  • Performance reports only count claimed views
  • YouTube Analytics counts unclaimed partner-uploaded views and claimed views

View your earnings metrics

On the Analytics  page, you can click the Revenue tab to view estimated earnings data. Keep in mind that:

  • Estimated earnings data in YouTube Analytics is updated daily.
  • YouTube Analytics has a data delay of approximately 2 days for estimated earnings data.
  • Estimated earnings data in YouTube Analytics doesn’t reflect invalid activity adjustments in real time. Final revenue data reported in downloadable financial reports may differ from YouTube Analytics data.

Use advanced mode

YouTube Analytics in advanced mode lets you see more specific data about your channels, assets, and audience. You can also compare content performance metrics and export your data. To use advanced mode:

  1. Sign in to Studio Content Manager.
  2. From the left menu, select Analytics .
  3. In the top-right corner, click ADVANCED MODE.
  4. On this page you can take several actions, which are outlined here. For Content Manager users, additional actions include:
    • Click the Channels tab to view data from individual channels.
    • Click the Assets tab to view data from individual assets.
    • Click the More  tab to view data by Channel ownership or Claim state.

Keep in mind that, on any advanced mode page, you can click the download  icon to export data. Learn more about using advanced mode in YouTube Analytics.

Organize data with Analytics groups

Groups are customizable collections of your videos, channels, or assets. Groups let you arrange similar content together to see all the data in one place, which can help you monitor performance in an organized way.
