Ernesto Zedillo Ponce de León, GColIH[1] (Spanish pronunciation: [erˈnesto seˈðiʝo]; born December 27, 1951) is a Mexican economist and politician. He was the 54th President of Mexico from December 1, 1994 to November 30, 2000.
He was the last Mexican president from the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), a 71 year streak. He became the PRI candidate after the original nominee Luis Donaldo Colosio was assassinated.
