Riffat Hassan (born 1943 in Lahore) is a Pakistani-American feminist and Islamic scholar of the Quran.[1]

She studied from Durham University, England and later moved to the United States. She has taught at schools including Oklahoma State University and Harvard University, and is currently a professor of Religious Studies at the University of Louisville, Kentucky

She is a strong supporter of 'Progressive Islam' and of the right of abortion and to the access to contraception for Muslim women[source?].
