Tokyo Metropolis

Tokyo Metropolis (東京都, Tōkyō-to) or "greater Tokyo metropolian area" is the local government for of the traditional city of Tokyo (1869-1943) and the municipalities of what was formerly Tokyo Prefecture (1869-1943).^[1]

History

In 1943, Tokyo prefecture's municipalities and city of Tokyo merged.^[1]
