Kangasniemi is a municipality in Southern Savonia, Finland. As of January 2014, almost 5,800 people lived there. Neighbouring municipalities are Hankasalmi, Hirvensalmi, Joutsa, Mikkeli, Pieksämäki and Toivakka.

Kangasniemi was established in 1867. It has over 40 villages.
