In 1305 Eric VI o Denmark gave permission tae the monks frae Dünamünde tae build a fortifee'd monastery in Padise, the construction o which begun in 1317. In 1343 - at the time o St. George's Nicht Uprisin - the first floor an pairt o the main floor waws wur finished. The monastery wis burnt doun an 28 monks, lay brithers an German vassals wur killed. The rebiggin o the monastery begun anerly efter 1370 an the consecration o the main biggin teuk place as late as 1448. The monastery ceased tae exist in 1559 durin the Livonie War.
