If you create an account for yourself, you get a button that lets you rename pages.

The button is called "Flit".

Translatit pages

Officially, for copyright reasons, we are supposed to acknowledge when we have translated an article.
There are several reasons why I only translate 2 sentences of an article; this is one of the reasons.
In the couple of cases where I did the preponderance of text, I added Template:Translatit page to the Collogue page.
I created it recently.
As part of your process, you could add that detail as your final step.

Let us have a strategy meeting

(As you can imagine, it is odd having a one-sided conversation. That tends to sound like a lecture.)
I don`t (my stupid VAIO is buggered at present, hence the backquote) know how familiar you are with foreign language study, but I have studied lots.
A word-for-word translation, which is all I am capable of, is never valid in any language.
If you are lucky, it is comprehensible, and people will not bother to correct it.
That`s like me speaking Spanish or French.

Comprehensible, but awkward and not idiomatic. It typically does not result in a natural-sounding sentence.

A solution would be to have an army of Scots rephrasing things.

How do we get an army of Scots?

I am on the Naughty List at enwiki for another 2 weeks. I have been exiled here. Now, I have always noticed the lack of Scots WP articles on Scots topics when I have been poking around in enwiki. There is never an interwiki there over here to Scots.

How come, eh?

I am interested in this project because I am interested in a Scots perspective on Scots issues. But I am rarely seeing that here.

My feeling is a lack of Scots subject matter is a factor. When you do a search in "Scots" WP for Sean Connery, and get nothing, I think that represents a problem. It makes the project look stoopid.

Therefore, I have been producing a slew of Scots stubs to flesh out the Scots element of the project. I intentionally make a stub for several reasons:

1. my Scots is of poor quality
2. shorter is faster
3. copyright considerations

But the real reason is the 90-9-1 rule: 90% of people are passive readers, 9% will fix broken things, 1% will create.

You are in the 1% since you do a thorough job. So a beginner, or a kid, or a language learner, can#t make changes to yours. Because you#ve done everything already. A sophisticated user can create a redlink template, but novices can#t do that.

I want to energize that 9 or 10% by leaving things undone. By creating opportunities for their involvement.

So I build my stubs with a link to English. I intentionally do not bring over the infoboxes.

Why no infoboxes?

Because infoboxes do not require grammar. Infoboxes are point form. An infobox is the easiest big splashy thing for a novice to set up. Infoboxes and images. A novice sets up one of those and he thinks he has made the article his own. And that#s what we want -- his perception of ownership. Because then he is motivated to improve HIS article.

It`s like when I was a software manager. I would leave lots of rudimentary work around for the team, while I concentrated on strategy and integration. So I hope to develop a team of novices around here who know how to add a photo of Annie Lennox to a stub article.

Now, very very important, you have your method already in place, and I don`t want to mess you up, basically. I like what you`re doing and what you have accomplished. I also see that you did a lot of work on Scots topics but a long time ago.

I am wondering whether you would be willing to blitz through some more Scots articles. What do you think about that, or about things generally?

I have stayed in Tepic.
If you want to drive from Guadalajara to Puerto Vallarta, both in the state of Jalisco, then you go through Nayarit. Because of the mountains.
One of the founders of California was based in Tepic before heading north. Junipero Serra, is that the right name?
From a Mexican standpoint, Tepic is where one of the Boy Heroes came from.

A better cloning strategy in regards to Linkrot

The fellow who deals with Linkrot on the English side is very responsive, but does not want to work on our side.
Fine.
So, we clone in three stages:

1. Put a Linkrot tag on the English side, where appropriate.
2. Wait for him to repair it over there.
3. Clone it to our side.

So we have him working for us, on the articles we care about, only indirectly.

Yer technique

In computer science and linguistics, both, we learn by noting mistakes.
At this point, I have seen a number of your typos.
Something error-free tells me nothing; typos tell me technique.

Due to your speed and overall high level of quality, I had assumed you were doing a macro prepass.
(I can't help thinking like an engineer.)
But from your typos, it appears that that is not the case.

Since you enjoy doing this, I would recommend you look at macros for whatever word processor you happen to be using.
So, for example, if the text contains [space]one[space], then your macro knows that should be [space]ane[space], probably without exception. (You would know better than I.)
So you hit 80-90% with the prepass, then you do the 10-20% by hand.
Higher accuracy, less wear and tear on your eyesight.
(I have carpel tunnel from too many years of writing software.)

And this would avoid "town" becoming "toin" when you accidentally hit the adjacent key, right?

I am of a different generation so progressive rock and classical (as my home page notes) are my cup of tea.
But on the hivy side, I like Opeth; I have seen them twice. And I am always seeking advice on who to listen to.
These days, my favourite group is Mago de Oz, from Spain, since they are quasi-prog for a metal band.

The "Law Kintras"

Hi, I was about to use that phrase, but I went to confirm it first, as is my practice.
Every article that uses the phrase was written by you know who.
The other European languages do not say that. When they do say that, it means Holland alone. They need to say Benelux to mean Low Countries.
So, Law Kintras could be Scots usage, but it is not assured.
Did you find that phrase somewhere?
