As an artist-scholar, your project must have the following components, all of which will take place during the 2024-2025 academic year:
1. Two artistic workshops or similar learning experiences to be held during the Spring 2025 semester. Workshops will be 2 to 2.5 hours each and hosted on an ASU campus. Projects should be interdisciplinary. Workshops should work to build a sense of community across generations. As such, the workshops should feature bidirectional co-learning opportunities and elicit active participation from attendees, who must comprise both OLLI members and traditional ASU students. Successful applications will be intentional about designing an experience where different generations are working together collaboratively, avoiding siloed groupings in the classroom. Applicants may also choose to involve other ASU organizations such as student-led clubs in order to increase community engagement. Applicants are not encouraged to propose unidirectional lessons, performances, or lectures.
2. Attendance at a December OLLI community event held at the Tempe Public Library to provide a brief, in-person presentation (<5 minutes) on your spring artistic workshop plans.
3. Production of a brief video presentation (<5 minutes) that explains your project, reflects upon any key takeaways for you as an artist-scholar on co-generational artistic experiences, and articulates what impact - if any - the scholarship had on you. This will be due by April 1, 2025.
Funding details:
Scholarship funds ($1,250) will be disbursed to your ASU account. Half of the scholarship will be awarded immediately after acceptance, and the other half will be awarded once the scholarship project is fully organized. Scholarship recipients can apply for additional financial assistance for materials needed for successful completion of their projects.
Please note: ALL scholarships awarded to ASU accounts are processed by the Financial Aid and Scholarship Services (FASS) Office. Once the award funding is approved by OLLI, the FASS Office manages the posting and disbursement of the funds. In some cases, the awarding of additional funds from any ASU-affiliated source may impact student loans or university grants. Students who are currently receiving funding from ASU or federal sources should reach out to FASS and Student Business Services (SBS) for clarity on the potential financial impact of another award.
