Times-Dispatch, League of Women Voters to hold Richmond City Council forum

The event is planned for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at the Virginia Museum of History & Culture, 428 N. Arthur Ashe Blvd. in Richmond.

Organizers are reaching out to candidates this week to take part. Eighteen candidates are on the Nov. 5 ballot, with six of the nine council seats being contested.

I’ll be moderating the forum and welcome your questions for the candidates. Submit yours for consideration at go.richmond.com/councilquestion.

On the road (again)

We had a great week of our Mobile Newsroom visiting The Kitchens at Reynolds in Richmond’s East End on Monday through Thursday. Thanks to everyone who came and visited, as well as Times-Dispatch staffers Chelsea Jackson, Savannah Reger, Anna Bryson, Zach Joachim, Akash Pamarthy, Margo Wagner, Mike Kropf, Paul Whelan and David Ng for making it all happen.

I also want to thank Joe Schilling, director of communications and special assistant to the president at Reynolds, and all of the staff at The Kitchens.

Our next stop will be the Ettrick-Matoaca Library, 4501 River Road, in South Chesterfield. Journalists will be be there from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, to Friday, Aug. 16, to hear your story ideas.
