Hudson Falls duo arrested on drug charges in Queensbury
QUEENSBURY – A man and women from Hudson Falls were arrested after a traffic stop in Queensbury discovered what authorities are calling a large quantity of cocaine.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Lower Warren Street in Queensbury around 12:50 p.m. Tuesday when the officer saw a driver John N. Rowland, 46, committing a traffic offence. The Sheriff’s Office reported that Rowland was found with a large quantity of crack cocaine as well as a smaller quantities of methamphetamine and psilocybin mushrooms as well as scales and packaging equipment indicative of narcotics sales and a switchblade knife.
Rowland was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies and one count of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both misdemeanors.

Rowland was arraigned in Warren County CAP Court and remanded to the Warren County Correctional Facility without bail.
A passenger in the vehicle, Brittany M. Columbetti, 38, was also found in possession of crack cocaine and arrested. She was processed at the Sheriff’s Office for one misdemeanor count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and released pending arraignment in Queensbury Town County at a later date.
Corinth Man arrested last week for sexual abuse
GREENFIELD – A Corinth man was arrested last week on multiple felony charges related to a sexual assault report.
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office reported Tuesday that they received a call of a sexual assault that allegedly occurred on Spier Falls Toad in Greenfield on Aug. 15 shortly before 2 p.m.
Investigation into the complaint led to the arrest of David R. Bodenstab, 64, the following day. He was arrested on one count of first-degree criminal sexual act, a class B felony and one count of first-degree sexual abuse, a class D felony.
“Mr. Bodenstab is accused of engaging in oral sexual conduct with another person by forcible compulsion and of subjecting another person to sexual contact by forcible compulsion,” a press release from the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office stated.
Bodenstab was arraigned by Judge Michael Ginley in Greenfield Town Court and released on his own recognizance pending further proceedings.
The victim was transported to Albany Medical Center for evaluation and treatment, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
State Police arrest Ballston Spa man for stealing from employer
SARATOGA – A Ballston Spa man was arrested earlier this month for grand larceny after allegedly stealing more than $3,000 worth of metal from his employer.
State Police of Saratoga arrested Thomas E. Crandall, 29, Aug. 11 after receiving a complaint week prior that a business in Malta was missing a large quantity of metal.
State Police reported Thursday that the investigation determined the company had employed Crandall since July 2023, and without permission, he allegedly removed a large quantity of metal valued at more than $3,000 from the business’ property on July 5, 2024. Police said it was later discovered he had brought the stolen property to a scrap yard and exchanged it for cash.
Crandall was arrested in his home in Ballston Spa, and arraigned in Malta Town Court. He was released on his own recognizance and will be scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Brant Lake man arrested after distributing intimate image
QUEENSBURY – State Police arrested a man from Brant Lake after he allegedly distributed intimate images of an individual without their knowledge or permission.
Darren V. Alvaro, 47, was arrested by State Police of Queensbury Aug. 15 for one count of unlawful dissemination of publication. The investigation came after Troopers received a complaint from a Saratoga Couty resident the day prior.
Authorities reported that due to a medical issue, Alvaro could not be processed at State Police Queensbury, and the following day he arrived at State Police Chestertown to be processed.
“The following day, Alvaro arrived at SP Chestertown to be processed on the original charge,” State Police reported in a press release. “Troopers witnessed Alvaro drive his vehicle into the barracks parking lot and observed signs of impairment while being taken into custody.”
Alvaro was arrested again, and charged with driving while intoxicated. He was then processed for both arrests. At the time, authorities reported that he recorded a 0.26% BAC.
Alvaro was issued appearance tickets returnable to the courts at a later date and released to a sober third party.
