HUDSON FALLS – Two local residents were recently arrested by Hudson Falls Police in an assault case which involved a knife and a blowtorch.
Ayssa L. Johnson, 38, of Warrensburg and Richard Smith, 39, of Glens Falls, will appear in Washington County Court next month in relation to an alleged assault case.
The Hudson Falls Police Department announced the pair’s May arrest in a press release Tuesday. They were charged with first-degree unlawful imprisonment, a class E felony, and first-degree assault, a class B felony.
The police department reported that Smith and Johnson were arrested following a dispute at a Willow Street address.
“The victim reported that while inside the residence, Smith grabbed her and held her against the wall,” a statement from the Hudson Falls Police Department read. “Johnson heated up a knife using a blowtorch and pressed it against the victim’s face.”

Johnson is scheduled to appear in Washington County Court in this case August 9. Smith is scheduled to appear in court August 16 on these charges.
According to court records, Smith is also scheduled to appear in Washington County court on August 28 in a separate case where he was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance stemming from an August 2023 arrest.
