BRANT LAKE—Nicole “Nikki” (Monroe) Rising, 47, passed away suddenly on Friday June 28, 2024,at the Glens Falls Hospital. Born October 30, 1976 in Glens Falls, she was a devoted daughter to her late parents, Albert (Butch) and Sherri Monroe.
Nikki graduated from North Warren Central School in 1994 and dedicated much of her career to caring for others as a home health aide for several companies.
She also looked after her family and friends, including a special friend, Martin Kenyon (Carol Griffen). Nikki’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to become the owner of Bee’s Mercantile in Brant Lake, and co-owner of Rising 5 Builders.
Beyond her professional life, Nikki was deeply involved in her community. She was instrumental in reviving and was the past President of the North Warren PTO. She sat on the board of the North Country Hardship Fund, and The Friends of Horicon Public Library, as well as other countless contributions to local organizations. She also volunteered for the Scouts organizations of America, and her efforts also helped raise over $130,000 for Veterans and service members. Nikki’s kindness extended to all living creatures. People often said “It takes a village and “Nikki”
A member of Brant Lake Baptist Church, Nikki’s faith was an important aspect of her life. Her hobbies included sitting by a roaring fire, doing crafts, and playfully teasing her friends and family. She was regarded as a second mom by many in her community.
Nikki is survived by her husband, of 21 years, Richard J. Rising; her children: Nevin, Kaden and Miah; her brothers: Joel (Robin) and Mike Monroe; her nieces and nephew: Natalie, Nicholas, Nicole (Coco) Monroe, Ronald (Ron), Becky, (Leigha, Parker) Rising; her father-in-law, Joseph Rising; brother-in-law, Ronald Rising; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves behind her best friend, of 35 years, Dawn (Dawne) Coppersmith; and her close cousins: Lawanda Biles and Robert “Bobby” Monroe, as well as an abundance of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by Lucretia Bisner and Vinny Beckman, Albert and Gertrude Monroe, her maternal and paternal grandparents, and brother, Steven Monroe, her close cousin, PFC Jerimiah Monroe, and other cherished family members.
Relatives and friends may call from 3:00 PM to 4:00PM Friday, July 12, 2024 at Horicon Baptist Church, 6616 NY-8, Brant Lake, NY 12815. Services will follow at 4:00 PM with Pastor Taylor Callen officiating. Interment will be private.
