@Jalexander Thank you so much! That worked. I really really appreciate you helping me with this! - Erika aka BrillLyle
Hi there, So the browser login that was still working no longer works -- and I am no longer able to edit Wikipedia logged in a BrillLyle. Please, if anyone can help, I would really appreciate it. I would prefer not to have to register a new account. Thanks so much in advance. - Erika aka BrillLyle

Having editors with Account Creator status is helpful, but the main problem with putting in a Phabricator request to lift the IP throttle is that the organizers need to have the IP address for the editathon from the partner organization where the event is taking place.
Jul 2 2017
Thanks to everyone who tried to help. We didn't have the IP address, and I guess it turned out that sometimes we saw the block and sometimes we didn't. Next event we will work with the outreach partner to get the required information in advance of the event. Thanks again! - Erika

I just got confirmation that the IP address for the event Saturday is 207.87.175.130 as well as 4.15.214.210
@Urbanecm -- How is this task closed? I am still trying to confirm the IP address.... Please advise.
Jan 25 2017
@Urbanecm -- I will let you know the minute I get confirmation of their IP address. Very sorry I thought the reverse lookup thing would work but now I'm unsure. Thanks for letting me know the timeframe. This is helpful -- especially as we might have more large events coming up.

I was seeing User Contributions on the User page on English Wikipedia and then seeing none on the GUC. But it seems to be working now thankfully, so I guess this is now resolved.
Dec 12 2016
So if I click on Global user contributions in the footer of a Wikipedia User's User Contributions, the GUC interface is not pulling current information. Like for some new users at the editathon, it is pulling up NULL (i.e., no entries) for users who have English Wikipedia entries listed on their Wikipedia User's User Contributions page. So the GUC is blank but it is clear they have contributions. I am not sure how much more detailed I can be since the tool is providing an absence of information, whereas before it was providing information that matches user contributions on the various projects.

I like the idea of {{isbn|0-7475-3269-9}} possibly?
- Not a fan of the # sign
- Pipe seems more logical than : but I defer to the experts here
- I use {{OCLC|123456}} all the time. This seems to be similar, assuming?

@Agtx -- You are brilliant! That was the problem. I posted on the syntax highlighter discussion page as well as updated the RefToolbar discussion page. I love me my syntax highlighter but I can turn it off if for now if it means I can use the Cite menus. Thank you so much!!!
Sep 20 2016
I already tried turning on and off the RefToolbar Cite gadget.
- I don't know what that code means, what action item I should take
- I find it hard to believe that this is not fixable. This is fundamental functionality to use the WikiMarkup citation templates. I don't understand the delay and I am concerned at the lack of what seems to be concern about such an important loss of functionality.

@Aklapper -- No I continue to face the same problem. And switching to Firefox is not a good enough solution. Is there an update on the timeframe that this can be fixed. It's really affecting my ability to edit Wikipedia effectively.
Sep 16 2016
@Aklapper -- Hey I just tried logging OUT of Wikipedia and the dropdown menu works in Chrome! Why would it do that?!?
Sep 15 2016
I did notice recently that when I load the edit page I see the link symbol cycle cycle from fat to not fat, and the Cite button is often delayed in loading as well. I haven't seen this recently, and it seems like it might be somehow connected, possibly?
@Aklapper -- Ugh. I would use Firefox but it locks up my computer. Has no one else complained about this?
Please let me know if I'm doing something wrong.
Hi @Aklapper -- I am on the Tools, Elements and have even selected the code where the dropdown is highlighted. The Console tab is empty / not populated. Suggestions?
Screenshots to show display issues. If I click on the sliver of white at the top I will get the first Template option (web). I need all 4... :-) Thx! - Erika

Thanks so much @Dereckson !

@Dereckson Thanks so much! Not sure if folks will respond quicker via WM user accounts or via email (which I've listed if it's publicly available on the Empower Women campaign page for HerStory) -- but either way THANK YOU!
Two Mexico editathons, one in Mexico City specifically that might be big, has been added. Email addresses are on the Meta page.
Thanks for the IP un-block.

Curious if it would be possible to have whatever is currently working in Wiki Markup (the magnifier/lookup button) that does a lookup function -- and have inter-operability with Wikidata -- in addition to making Citoid work with Visual Editor? Basically could we have whatever works with Visual Editor also work with the old school Wiki Markup?

Please let me know if you need a citation obsessed Wiki editor to do beta testing as a relative newbie Wikidatan. I have done beta testing on systems before.

Is it possible to alphabetize the order of the elements? Using alphabetizing as an organizational principle would also prevent duplication.

@Qgil -- Hi Yes I have looked at the Phabricator Calendar. It seems fine but there are some significant things missing that would mean loss of functionality. (i.e., time zone support, color coding, ability to select and maintain different calendars, ability to copy to events to personal calendar, etc.). It also requires end users sign in using OAuth and have a Phabricator account, correct? We have problems getting participants onboarded to the en-Wiki so this is another thing that I'm just thinking of. Unless this solution was fully integrated with Wikipedia where it would not require logging in to another system to easily copy/export events, I am concerned this is a big issue.

I agree that just because there is a budget and a time constraint doesn't mean that's the best approach -- especially because a bandaid and/or short-term solution may not provide what is needed in the long-term.
May 14 2016
The thing that us folks doing Wikipedia:Meetup editathons need is something that can be maintained on the Wikipedia namespace -- and probably for those still using Meta for use on that namespace as well.

I posted this to the main mailing list, just sharing for 100% transparency. WM NYC had one massive calendar but the consensus was it needed to be carved down, so here they are.... :-)

Wanted to mention that someone on one of the Wiki mailing lists recommended looking into the Calagator interface, Portland's Tech Calendar:
Apr 8 2016
Apr 5 2016
Apr 2 2016
So I have added all of the ones on the Wikimedia Event page to our calendar:
I also created a semi-complete calendar for all Art+Feminism events for the recent Art+Feminism initiative.
I have added many of these events to our Wikimedia NYC calendar as well as to our chapter's planning committee. The Wikimedia NYC calendar is definitely shareable. I posted on the other thread in an effort to not duplicate this work.

Is this still an active project? I stumbled upon this calendar when combing for national Wikimedia events. If this is active and is being used for local chapter meetup events, I would love to add the Wikimedia NYC events to this calendar so we can use this calendar in addition to the Google Calendar we are currently keeping. I think simultaneous editing is a nightmare, and efforts could be focused elsewhere. We used to try and do this via Box and via a corporate document management system when I was a word processor at an investment bank. It always created massive problems. Not a fan.
