hybrid GLAM-on-Tour in Potsdam with the Museum Barberini
Cooperation with the Museum Barberini
One of the strengths of de.wikipedia is that many articles on the Impressionist style in general and also articles on Piet Mondrian or on Johan Barthold Jongkind in particular are well elaborated thanks to all the authors. At the same time, we are all aware that Wikipedia will never be finished. This weekend event, deliberately planned as a hybrid GLAM-on-Tour, took us to Potsdam. Together with the Museum Barberini, we were able to get closer to the artists represented in the current special exhibition "Clouds and Light. Impressionism in Holland". During an on-site guided tour of the special exhibition, we were able to learn more about the artists and their works, which was a good opportunity for information and inspiration for our own article work. In addition, there was a virtual zoom tour of the special exhibition for people who could not be there on site. In this way, the artworks could also be experienced by them. There was a handheld apparatus on site and a material folder online for research for the article work. In addition to many new articles for Wikipedia, photos were also taken about the museum and its collection presentation. In addition, some buildings in Potsdam were flown over and documented for the Wikimedia projects. More about the event on the project page and in the Wikimedia Deutschland blog. Before the actual event, more than twenty employees from museums in the federal state of Brandenburg were familiarised with the Wikimedia projects in a training session and were able to edit then themselves.
