DELICIOUS vegan fast food/ fast casual spot in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Walking in, this eatery features a nice open space, glass windows and pink decor- what's not to love!
There is a fully vegan menu with all day brunch (except chicken & waffles is only until 4pm), burgers, salads & wraps, sides and ice cream! I tried the beet potato salad and was blown away by how delicious it was- perfectly creamy, tangy and just great flavor all around. The beets make it a real cute pink color that matches the restaurant. It was reasonably priced at ~$5-$6 if I remember correctly. It was so good I got another side of it to go!
I also got the Caesar salad with vegan "fried chicken" and made into a wrap! Gotta love chicken Caesar wraps. My only critique was that it was not wrapped well and everything was spilling out, but at the same time it means I got a lot of filling. :) I ended up re-wrapping it which was not a big deal. Taste-wise it was amazing! The Caesar dressing once again had a perfect flavor- tangy, creamy, well-balanced. It went very well with the fresh greens, croutons and chicken.
I got the tangy coleslaw to go as well, and I will honestly say that this side lacked in flavor a little, and wish I got the creamy slaw instead which I was deciding between!
I believe their items are mostly "homemade"- for example they make their own fried "chicken" seitan instead of buying a frozen brand, which I appreciate.
This eatery is fast casual- and you order at counter and they bring the food out to you. Service was friendly and reasonably fast. No complaints there! Love the open concept & plenty of seating. Pricing is pretty standard at $12-$16 for an entree and sides are $4-$6.
They also serve coffee drinks if you fancy that with your meal.
Overall, this is a great vegan spot that I would return to as I want to try SO many things on their menu. I want to try their tofu scramble burrito, fried chicken sandwiches, burgers, and animal style fries!! Also their fried mushrooms sound delish and it was sold out when I went. Great for a casual hangout with friends, or anyone really.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - 29 Apr 2023
A vegan burger that is actually flavorful and packed to the brim?? Sign me up!
The decor of this place is pink, flowers love vibes which was very cute. I got the Personality Crisis burger, which is a Nashville hot fried chick'n flavor, something I've never tried but absolutely loved. Look how thick this burger is! The sauce was delicious and I loved how crispy the chick'n was. I would certainly be coming back here for more (in fact, as I am writing this review, I want to try something today!!). The one big con I will mention is that this burger is so hard to eat; it is so stuffed, that it fell apart very quickly and made for a bit of a messy eat. Just a fair warning that if you want a burger to stay intact, this may not be the place for it; but the flavors make up for all of it!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Valentina V.Howard Beach, New York, United States8429813 Aug 2023
I recently started eating plant base and in the past I have had plant based alternatives but Hart breakers was delicious , the ambiance gave me old school tarot Gitana Vibes which I absolutely love , right at the corner of Hart street w a name like Hartbreakers the food was delicious and incredible , we had the deep fried mushrooms w waffle fries the sauces we chose were the lime cilantro
The mando sauce and the sweet chili sauce ... all amazing but my favorite isn't he mando for sure we... my husband and I also shared Picnic Basket sandwich w added avocado it was also a great and filling meal, the service was good no complaints or out of this world service but everything was a smooth transactions from beginning to end the waiting staff as well as behind the counter staff and ere very friendly and knowledgeable of their menu I will be going backHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 36626710930 May 2023
Super cute vegan restaurant with friendly, helpful staff! I wish it could have been a little cheaper, as it is a cafe-style, order-at-the-counter-and-then-sit kind of place, but the portion sizes were pretty large, so perhaps it balances out.
We got fries for the table, which we loved with whatever magical sauce accompanied them, and my kale Caesar salad was huge; although I felt like I'd eaten a lot, the bowl I took home looked like a full new meal. I'd like to try a sandwich next time, as they looked good.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kenneth T.New York, United States26417362286 Jan 2024
The place is spacious and clean but the service is very slow. We were nearby and stopped by for coffee so I ordered an iced redeye. I'm not sure if they added the extra shots to an iced americano or cold brew, based on how bitter things were, I assume it was a cold brew.
I looked at the pastries they offered on the counter but nothing intrigued me
I saw other people ordering food and wish we saw a menu somewhere but didn't which is a same because some things looked goodHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 14629118 Sept 2022Updated review
I've been coming here since 2018 or 2019 and there is literally no better vegan fried chicken in all of NYC. No weird textures, oversized portions, delicious flavor. They sometimes remove amazing items (long-live the Firebird, Hotmess and the Varsity) but they're always being replaced by continuously delicious items.
While likely more-known for their sandwiches, their wings and tenders are where it's at, especially vegan eaters who miss fast-food (although not fast food like HipCityVeg. Hartbreakers is much better quality). The Nashville Hot sauce is more rub-like and not wet, but wow, talk about flavor. Can't go wrong with their Vegan Ranch or creamy Jalapeño Cilantro Sauce.
I finally tried their Oyster Mushroom Wings (they always seem to be sold out from popularity!) and they have a different fried coating than the wings - it's cornmeal instead - but wow, these were huge and full of flavor.
Waffle fries are hugely portioned (think Chick Fil A) and are enough for 2 people.
They recently moved and expanded their menu (and more importantly their hours!) and I'm looking forward to trying their new breakfast items. Hello hangover food.
Our go-to order for 2 is the Heartbreaker, Chik'n Wings with Nashville Hot Sauce, and Waffle fries with an extra side of Jalapeño Cilantro Sauce.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 026 Jun 2019Previous reviewI swear every time I eat here it gets better and better. I've been vegan 8 years and don't miss meat - but I do miss breaded fried chicken! Their tenders and sandwiches are amazing for hangovers (being honest here!) and amazing when you want a good salad with vegan ranch (lol). The Varsity is always a win (get an extra side of ranch if you want to go crazy) and the Filos Fries were a welcomed surprise! They didn't skip on toppings and the hearts of Palm were unlike most.
I don't miss burgers so I have ventured into the beet burgers, but I haven't had a chik'n one I didn't like.
Do yourself a favor and order from here. Deliveries were never a disappointment either. - L E.Brooklyn, Brooklyn, United States03521 May 2024
Hart-broken that this place is closed. They really had the best food and atmosphere and was my number one go to spot. Really miss this place on days like today. And champs, shoutout champs. Miss these spots

As someone who's not vegan/vegetarian, I still enjoy a nice vegan spot every now and then. Met here for dinner and decided on the personality crisis. The sandwich itself was so delicious, couldn't even tell it wasn't meat. The sauce on it made it ten times better. Although this place is on the pricey side, it's worth a try for all veggie and meat lovers who are looking for an experience

This place was super good . I've been meaning to get food from here for a while but just haven't had the chance but we were in the neighborhood so we decided to stop here . My mom isn't vegan and she got the bucket with 3 piece of "chick'n" with waffles fries and slaw . She said she enjoyed it so much and she really felt like she was eating chicken lol and the waffle fries were bomb along with their sauces . I had the Picnic basket sandwich and man I DESTROYED that sandwich . It was so good and so satisfying and I really loved the bacon on this sandwich. I loved the slaw the pickled onions just everything . It came together really well . It's a bit pricey but I get it lol keep doing your thang Hartbreakers .
P.S the indoor part of the place is closed so it's just outside seating which is nice and you order from the window .Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Eden M.Bronx, United States77215332 Jul 2023
Met vegan friends for dinner last night, and ate well. The servers are very nice even though they had to close a little early because of staff call-outs. We had the Kale Caesar salad with tofu, the Hartbreaker faux chicken sandwich, a beet burger that I don't recall the name of, the Picnic Basket faux chicken and bacon sandwich, and the Animal Fries.
The salads were big portions and fresh, and I didn't try the beet burgers but my cousins liked them. I enjoyed the chicken part of my sandwich, and the sauce and onions gave a good flavor. Texturally was really good and juicy. I didn't love the faux bacon because it had the consistency of a dried fruit roll up and not much flavor, but no big deal. I thought the weakest point was the Animal Fries, unfortunately. They were just barely cooked so had no crunch or crispness, the onions were barely cooked down, and the cheese sauce ended up only on the bottom. Meant that you got a slightly mushy waffle fry with a slightly mushy onion until you dug down to a puddle of cheese on the bottom.
They only had three small cafe tables outside and not enough chairs so we pulled a bunch from inside, but the staff were nice about that and we pulled them back inside afterwards. For $125 for 4 adults and a kid I wish they offered table service, but it is what it is.
Overall I wouldn't hesitate recommending this place to any other vegans looking for spots to try. Next time I'm in Bushwick I'd be happy to return.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
