On Wednesday, the Mosen Explosion celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Beatles Please Please me album
It doesn’t seem possible, but we long ago began a series of 60th anniversary milestones for the Beatles, beginning with the 60th anniversary of the day John met Paul in July 2017.
Now, we’ve reached the 60th anniversary of the release of the first Beatles album, Please Please me, which after their recent first number one single, hit the shops in the UK on 22 March 1963. On Wednesday’s Mosen Explosion, I’ll be celebrating that anniversary with some background to the album and the tracks that appeared on it. We’ll hear from the Beatles themselves as well as their gifted producer George Martin, and a little from the recording engineer on the session too. Yes, session singular, the whole album was wrapped up in one day.
The Please Please Me special will air on Wednesday’s Mosen Explosion at 2 AM and again at 2 Pm Eastern Daylight time in North America, that’s 6 AM and PM in the UK, Wednesday at 7 PM and then Thursday at 7 AM in New Zealand. Remember, if you want to check when it’s on where you are, you can always check the Mushroom FM schedule page where the schedule is displayed in your time zone.
There’s some fab music and fascinating facts in store, I look forward to your company.
