Abstract:

Historical narrative of the Jones ranching family from their start in the Virginia City/Gold Hill during the Comstock’s glory years to their eventual relocation in the Truckee Meadows with the services of closeby Reno and the transcontinental railroad. Descriptions of family members are combined with comments of the ranch’s growth and changes over the years with mention of crop, livestock operations, and irrigation development. Sources in¬clude county deed and tax records, historical references, and conversations with previous owners of the ranch.
