Motivation
editThis property is to record the public funding received by organisations, in particular (but not limited to) political parties and candidates. – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Julius Schwarz (talk • contribs) at 07:24, July 18, 2024 (UTC).
Discussion
edit- Public funding is often a crucial part of political organisations' funding and would benefit from being properly recorded. Alternatively, a more general "funding" property could be created and a qualifier could be used to indicate that the funding is private or public. However, there is already a "donations: sum of donations an organisation receives", so either we seek to amend that property, or we create a mirror property for public funding. I am rather new to Wikidata and very much welcome opinions on this. – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Julius Schwarz (talk • contribs) at 07:24, July 18, 2024 (UTC).
- Support Would also be interesting for other types of organizations. But should always come with point in time (P585) and something like funder (P8324), since it's possible to get public funding from different public institutions or even countries. --Newt713 (talk) 15:19, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- Very much agree -- indeed, not just for political parties (that's my use case) and can use qualifiers. Julius Schwarz (talk) 19:19, 19 July 2024 (UTC)

- Much appreciated! I took the liberty to remove the entry you created based on the example above :) Julius Schwarz (talk) 08:15, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
