Motivation

Discussion
edit- Support Parabéns! Apoio a iniciativa. A criação dessa propriedade possibilitará a inserção de informações mais detalhadas não apenas de bens tombados, mas de edificações eletivas ao tombamento que, em alguns casos, são descaracterizadas e apagadas da história da cidade.Friduxa (talk) 16:46, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- Comment I did not know what a "platband" was but according to wikipedia:pt:Platibanda it's just a vertical strip that frames the top of a building. My point is that there can be platbands without any interesting features, like e.g. File:IMIP.jpg. So I think we would need to find a more descriptive property name. I am unfortunately not very acquainted with architectural terms but I suspect that a better term may be found in commons:Category:Building ornaments. Perhaps the property could be used for keystones (keystone (Q220919)) as well? --Push-f (talk) 16:53, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for our comment. I really had difficult to find a good word in English for this kind of architectural element. Maybe it only exists in Brazil (???)
- It's a kind of Frontispiece that hide all the roof. But it seems to me that the word "Frontispiece" is more usual for Churches.
- But you are right. We may think about a property name that gathers all of this kind of oramentation in the top of edifications including platbands, frontispieces and keystones. Sintegrity (talk) 15:47, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
- Oppose given current lack of a description that explains what a platband happens to be and lack of examples that link items to images. ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 13:31, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
- Good night, I've improved the wikipedia article of wikipedia:pt:Platibanda. I hope it could clarify which is the architectonical element I would like to include. If I have a bit of time tomorrow, I will identify pictures from Commons which depicts platbands. Please, let's keep talking about it and trying to find a good word for these "crowning of the buildings". Sintegrity (talk) 03:05, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- @ Sintegrity: I don't care about what's written in the Wikipedia article. I care about what's written in the description of this properyt. I don't know what a platband is and I would expect many users also don't know what it is. I don't see a reason why a user should have to read a Wikipedia article to understand what the property is about. ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 16:52, 5 December 2022 (UTC)

- Oppose There is already a property for images, just add qualifiers. Cordially. ―Eihel (talk) 05:04, 16 November 2022 (UTC)
- depicts (P180) indeed seems like a good way to model this. E.g. Mercado São Sebastião (Q113786816)image (P18)File:Mercado São Sebastião Jucutuquara 4 (código M06).jpg
depicts (P180)platband (Q19760707). @Sintegrity:, see Help:Qualifiers for more information on how to add qualifiers. Note however that image (P18) has the single-best-value constraint (Q52060874), so if you add such a qualified image (P18) statement, you should also set the rank of the best existing image (P18) value to preferred, see Help:Ranking. --Push-f (talk) 06:24, 16 November 2022 (UTC) - This stance kind of begs the question why we have 75 subproperties of image (P18), when we can just use qualifiers. I guess properties are just easier to use than qualifiers and also a bit easier to query with SPARQL. We do have existing image (P18) subproperties, that are very similar to the proposed property, like cantilever sign (P10544) and image of entrance (P9721). @Eihel: what are your thoughts on that matter (or has this already been discussed elsewhere)? --Push-f (talk) 06:28, 16 November 2022 (UTC)
- Easier to add to a QID metadata and easier to query with SPARQL are some of the reasons I would like to create this property. Sintegrity (talk) 20:22, 5 December 2022 (UTC)

- @Sintegrity, Friduxa, Push-f, ChristianKl, Eihel: Not done There is no consensus at this time to create this property. --99of9 (talk) 00:34, 9 June 2023 (UTC)
