Q6456020
editHi! Q6456020 wasn’t a disambiguation page item, at least not the last time the Wayback Machine captured it. Please undelete it. Thanks in advance, Tacsipacsi (talk) 21:06, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Tacsipacsi: I've restored it, but please note that @Myotus: for some reason changed it to be a disambiguation page and moved all the sitelinks from the item. Mahir256 (talk) 21:09, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks! I’ve reverted their edits, so hopefully admins won’t think anymore that this item is unnecessary. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 20:13, 29 November 2023 (UTC)
- Okay sir.
- Thanks so much ANTHONY DERY (talk) 18:20, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
Hello, I don't understand why this item should be a subclass of Q147276. The opposite isn't so. كريم رائد (talk) 17:24, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
- @كريم رائد: This would be a question for @JTs:, who added the statement, if they were still around. Mahir256 (talk) 17:26, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
- I realized it has features that will suit to what I wanted to do that is why please. ANTHONY DERY (talk) 18:21, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
Possible duplicate on BNWP
editHi! I have found through Wikidata:Database reports/Same humans/Q36180 Tara Kishore Chowdhury (Q54544213) and Tara Kishore Chowdhury (Q104457973). I do not read bengali, but for what Google Translate is worth they don't seem to share anything beyond dates and name. Would that be correct? --Jahl de Vautban (talk) 13:51, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
Hi! In order to merge Tara Kishore Chowdhury (Q104457973) and Tara Kishore Chowdhury (Q54544213) we need to merge the duplicate articles in bn.wikipedia and hi.wikipedia; would you be able to do it, or do you know somehow who would be able to? Thanks very much in any case! --Epìdosis 11:22, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Jahl de Vautban, Epìdosis: Apologies for the delay; I do not feel comfortable dealing with the Hindi text, so I've asked others about it, while I can take a look at the Bengali article later in the week. Mahir256 (talk) 16:39, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for removing L1227181
editHi, I am a wikidata beginner. I created L1227181 by mistake.
Thanks for deleting it and the fast deletion job. I'll be more careful in the future. Twkz0731 (talk) 15:52, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for the removal of unnecessary P143
editHi! Seeing edits like this I would like to thank you for this very useful cleaning, which surely improves Wikidata; I also want to thank you for the same cleaning you are doing through Twofivesixbot (e.g. this), which I hope will eventually remove all unnecessary P143 from P21 and all other sorts of properties. Good night from Italy, --Epìdosis 23:16, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
General Language/lexeme help
editHello, @ZI Jony recommended I contact you concerning Lexemes and translations involving South Asian languages(I'm unfamiliar with how they relate to each other, but I'm perhaps incorrectly throwing Bengali, Hindi, and Punjabi into the same general pile here.
While I also consider it premature to ask you for translations in specific cases, I would like to draw your attention to the of (P642) deprecation project (wherI'd like general commentary on property labels in multiple languages, as well as to a planned project of my own to create a scheme to design relational items suitable as P5689 (P5689) for adpositions, conjunctions and similar words. At this early stage I'm primarily looking for a convenient presentation mechanism for multiple-language comparison tables, to make them less tedious than regular wikitables to edit. See my current table on the page I link to (I'm aware of the English phrasemistakenly placed inthe Punjabi column, that mistake is an effect of the inconvenient table editor I'm using).Do you have any suggestions or wishes for how I should approach this. I'm thinking of a lookup table in Commons and perhaps some supporting Lua code (which I'm already working on at Swedish Wikipedia). Your actual needs and desires in Wikidata constitute my preferred challenge! --SM5POR (talk) 13:06, 30 January 2024 (UTC) SM5POR (talk) 13:06, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

Creating a Wikidata property
editHello, I request you to create a Wikidata property for the Quran encyclopedia site (https://referenceworks.brillonline.com/browse/encyclopaedia-of-the-quran/) similar to the Wikidata property (https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P11761) of the Islamica encyclopedia (https://referenceworks.brillonline.com/browse/encyclopaedia-islamica). Help
editHi, I would like to know the reason for deleting my edit in Wikidata on March 11, 2024. I created Lexeme in Wikidata on account of the editathon organised by the oral Indic group. May I know the reason? I would also like to improve my edits. Is there any way to improve my edits. Below is the URL address, which got deleted. (https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Lexeme:L1310595)
- Kavitha Ganesh
- @Kavitha G. Kana: Hello! I have restored the lexeme, but the various problems I saw with it led me to wonder if you wanted to create an item for the concept of a "ಕಂಬಳ ಪಾಡ್ದನ", rather than a lexeme for the Tulu phrase "ಕಂಬಳ ಪಾಡ್ದನ":
- Despite it being a Tulu lexeme, the lemma has the language code "kn", rather than "tcy" which I would expect for Tulu.
- The language of the lexeme is not Tulu (Q34251), but rather Tulu Wikipedia (Q26235862), which made me wonder if you were trying to add a link to a page on the Tulu Wikipedia instead.
- The sense gloss, when fed into Google Translate, tells me that "ಕಂಬಳ ಪಾಡ್ದನ" is a folk song about carpets, and it was not clear whether a specific folk song was being referred to by that phrase or whether the phrase refers to a 'type' of folk song.
- The single form provided on that lexeme is simply the name of the Kannada language in Kannada, and the grammatical feature provided on it is an item for a buffalo race (what does that have to do with grammar or songs about carpets?), which does not seem right for a phrase in the Tulu language.
- You may wish to read Wikidata:Lexicographical data/Documentation to learn about the parts of a lexeme, but feel free to ask me more questions too. Mahir256 (talk) 16:26, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
Invitation to participate in the WQT UI requirements elicitation online workshop
editDear Maher,
I hope you are doing well,
We are a group of researchers from King’s College London working on developing WQT (Wikidata Quality Toolkit), which will support a diverse set of editors in curating and validating Wikidata content.
We are inviting you to participate in an online workshop aimed at understanding the requirements for designing effective and easy-to-use user interfaces (UI) for three tools within WQT that can support the daily activities of Wikidata editors: recommending items to edit based on their personal preferences, finding items that need better references, and generating entity schemas automatically for better item quality.
The main activity during this workshop will be UI mockup sketching. To facilitate this, we encourage you to attend the workshop using a tablet or laptop with PowerPoint installed or any other drawing tools you prefer. This will allow for a more interactive and productive session as we delve into the UI mockup sketching activities.
Participation is completely voluntary. You should only take part if you want to and choosing not to take part will not disadvantage you in any way. However, your cooperation will be valuable for the WQT design. Please note that all data and responses collected during the workshop will be used solely for the purpose of improving the WQT and understanding editor requirements. We will analyze the results in an anonymized form, ensuring your privacy is protected. Personal information will be kept confidential and will be deleted once it has served its purpose in this research.
The online workshop, which will be held on April 5th, should take no more than 3 hours.
If you agree to participate in this workshop, please either contact me at kholoud.alghamdi@kcl.ac.uk or use this form to register your interest https://forms.office.com/e/9mrE8rXZVg Then, I will contact you with all the instructions for the workshop.
For more information about my project, please read this page: https://king-s-knowledge-graph-lab.github.io/WikidataQualityToolkit/
If you have further questions or require more information, don't hesitate to contact me at the email address mentioned above.
Thank you for considering taking part in this project.

Hey Mr Mahir. I ask you to add the Oxford English Dictionary object ID (post-July 2023) (P12510) property to the lexemes you create and work on. You will find the identifier by clicking on the “Cite” link (https://www.oed.com/search/dictionary/) under the title of each subject page.
Example: dhikr (L1324338)
1- OED URL: https://www.oed.com/dictionary/dhikr_n
2- "Cite" OED DOI: https://doi.org/10.1093/OED/1106174491
3- OED ID: 1106174491
This Oxford English Dictionary object ID (post-July 2023) (P12510) property is very useful to complement the other Oxford Dictionary of English entry ID (P12739) property. Regards. Soufiyouns (talk) 08:50, 29 May 2024 (UTC)
Twofivesixbot deletes statements
editWhy do you and your bot Twofivesixbot delete statements of the property P7859 (P7859) from data objects and replace them with statements of property WorldCat Entities ID (P10832)? As an administrator, you should know that no statements should be deleted from data objects. That's why I hereby ask you to issue this task immediately. Otherwise I will have your bot blocked by another administrator. --Gymnicus (talk) 16:06, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Gymnicus: Please read (the bottom of) Wikidata:Properties for deletion/P7859 (@Epìdosis:) and opine there instead. no statements should be deleted from data objects is a policy I have never seen before. Mahir256 (talk) 16:18, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- I still don't see any consensus there for the editing you're doing. That's why I once again demand that the activity be stopped immediately. --Gymnicus (talk) 19:05, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Gymnicus: When I look at the various "keep" comments on that page, they all make reference to "until a migration is set up" or "until we've shifted to entities". It just took a while for a migration path to be planned out (thanks @Epìdosis: for planning that!), but what I am doing is but an implementation of that set-up migration/shifting path. There are but two exceptions among the "keep" votes: one from a user who hasn't edited since late March, and one being your comment from 15 April 2023 to which you did not provide a keep reason when asked. If you can find some other "keep" voter from that page and convince them to tell me that there's a problem with what I'm doing, perhaps I will consider ceasing the bot run, but for now I see no reason to accede to your demand. Mahir256 (talk) 19:13, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- I agree with Mahir256; as of now, there has been no motivated opinion supporting keeping the Identities IDs after corresponding Entities IDs have been added. I add (as has already been written also on the deletion proposal) that the Identities IDs don't have any value in themselves since they are just derivations of LC or VIAF; since they have no intrinsic value, IMHO keeping just for keeping is not a good solution (if they were not direct derivations of LC or VIAF, I would be more hesitant about removing them, although I would probably nonetheless support their removal). Finally, I agree that the discussion should be in the deletion proposal, where as of now no one has objected the present bot run. Epìdosis 19:25, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- “where as of now no one has objected the present bot run” – I clearly see this statement as false. Because in the above section of the deletion discussion I clearly spoke out against any deletion of this property. Where does your interpretation come from that this statement no longer counts in the lower section? Because there is no vote anywhere in this section, where the critics are pinged again so that they can express themselves. Gymnicus (talk) 21:07, 12 June 2024 (UTC)

A WikiProject against redundant data
editHi Mahir256! Here at Wikimania in Katowice today I was discussing with @VIGNERON: about redundant data and the importance of reducing them for the well-being of Wikidata under a great variety of perspectives. We also remembered very well your presentation at WikidataCon 2023 Making Wikidata Smaller Without Reducing Information, which I think collected in a very clear and well-organized way the most relevant things to do for this issue, both from a software - let's say Phabricator ;-) - perspective and from the perspective of just editing and removing unnecessary things in our items. In the last days VIGNERON has been actively removing various redundant described at URL (P973) statements, while I have used my first bot in the last weeks for (among its main aims) removing redundant references to sex or gender (P21), which I know is a task you are also performing. Reducing data redundancy has also been mentioned in the session on the future of WDQS today by @Lydia Pintscher (WMDE):; however, we don't have yet (as far as I know) a dedicated documentation and/or work-in-progress page for this issue. I think it would be worth creating a WikiProject (Wikidata:WikiProject Redundancy? better names are accepted, I'm unsure about the best one) collecting all the ideas of your presentation and the queries that each of us is using to find redundancies in the items (which often need to be run periodically in order to fix things again and again), so that we could have a clearer understanding of what's the situation in this very important area of editing. I think I won't have time soon to start the WikiProject from scratch, but I am optimistic about having the time of adding some things (mainly Phab tickects and queries) if you start it. Let me know if you think it is a good idea. Thanks in advance in any case! From Wikimania, --Epìdosis 14:56, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks very much for creating Wikidata:WikiProject Redundancy (and so quickly)! I have added myself to the participants and I'm starting to add material. See you there ;-) Epìdosis 08:19, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
WorldCat Entities ID P10832
editThat bot Twofivesixbot adds some of theses properties which are not valid. Example: Demmin (Q559530) where I see only "Entity not found" some other examples where I already removed that property are Torgau (Q1420268) and Kreis Torgau (Q1787549). Maybe these are just redirects from old identifiers with some "lccn-<number>" in it? --Wurgl (talk) 16:03, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Wurgl: When I went through and found P10832 equivalents for existing P7859 values, I simply checked whether the WorldCat URL using P7859 yielded an HTTP 301 response pointing to another URL from which a P10832 value could be obtained. To reduce the amount of traffic to WorldCat, I did not further examine whether that P10832 value itself resolved to an information page. As such, while the P10832 statements I added are in principle correct, I am not opposed to seeing those values removed which do not produce information pages when accessed, so thank you for that. SIMBAD catalog properties proposal
editI think I have come up with a compromise that will allow you to start significantly reducing the number of triplets for astronomical objects, and on the other hand, will make sense in terms of associating stars with astrometry databases other than SIMBAD.
I propose to close Wikidata:Property proposal/SIMBAD catalog properties (used more than 1 million times) and make a new proposal for "Gaia ID" instead. Technically it will be DR3 ID (final according to Gaia website), but it will supersede Gaia Data Release 3 (Q66061041), Gaia Early Data Release 3 (Q98668919), Gaia Data Release 2 (Q51905050) and Gaia Data Release 1 (Q37859523) statements in P528.
I think we can relatively quickly assign this identifier to several million stars (see [2]), and then it will be possible to radically reduce the list of interesting catalogs for P528 statements by removing all the others.
What do you think of this idea? Ghuron (talk) 09:32, 3 December 2024 (UTC)
