Merging Q33456378 into Q43631

Hello, I do not understand why the merging process cannot be executed. Instead, the following message is displayed:

 Not done In The Netherlands, a municipality (Leiden (Q43631) in this case) can contain more than 1 town (Leiden (Q33456378) in this case).

It's not 2 items about 1 town. Q33456378 is about the town. Q43631 is about the administrative entity the town is part of. Wikipedia often doesn't distinguish between the 2 things, but that doesn't make them the same thing. Request of improvement: merging qualified and not-qualified IDs

Hi all! When two items are merged, if item A has statement X with 1+ qualifier(s) and item B has statement X without qualifiers, the two statements are kept separate in the merged item; this is generally correct, but I would propose to introduce an exception (if possible), under the following circumstances:

1. statement X has datatype external-id
2. statement X without qualifiers has no references

In such cases, I think that statement X without qualifiers should just disappear in the merged item, being considered just a mere duplicate of statement X with 1+ qualifier(s). Here is an example: in this merge, NL CR AUT ID (P691) gets duplicated, with the ID appearing both without qualifiers and references and with 1 qualifier and 1 reference; I had to manually remove the occurrence without qualifiers and references (in the past, I handled manually some hundreds of similar cases, nearly all of them with P691). Anyway, if an ID appears in A with some enrichment and in B with no enrichment and no reference, I see no reason for keeping both the rich form and the basic form; this is just a duplication of data, which floods single-value constraint violations and gives more work to do to human users and bots. Yes, but those seem to be erroneously linked, eg de:Schuld (Ethik), it:Colpa (filosofia), sv:Skuld (etik). I removed them but this was undone, maybe because there is no item to attach them to as yet? There should be one item for Guilt (ethics) and one for Guilt (emotion). Now we have two for emotional guilt. Buffalo Light rail items

I'm attempting to merge Q112604647 with Q3333824, but am unable to as the second item is in use in wikipedia. They appear to be the same subject, one is for the transit line, the other is about the transit/tram company. I believe they should be merged as the rail line isn't notable outside of the transit company and is only in a subsection in the EN wikipedia article for the company (the line does not have its own article). Merges aren't transactional

Have a look at the history for Q119010015. Obviously some network issue happened, possibly congestion, which resulted in the merging process being aborted after cleaning and just before creating the redirect.

One way to try and remedy this would be to wait a little and try again, repeat 1-3 times. This won't fix merges that failed completely halfway through due to internet outage and similar, but making the gadget transactional could potentially mean a lot of work, and I'm not sure it will be worth it. The article zh:伊隆·馬斯克領導的Twitter was moved to zh:X (社交平臺). And in English Wikipedia, Q918 is targeted to en:X (social network), and en:Twitter is targeted to Twitter (Q121085708). Therefore, the X under Elon Musk (Q116007306) should be merged to Q918, or delete X under Elon Musk (Q116007306) and add zh:X (社交平臺) to Q918; zh:Twitter should be added to Twitter (Q121085708). The merge wizard doesn't work when the items are linked to each other, in this case integral of motion (Q12021694) is marked as a subclass of constant of motion (Q647631). At least according to English Wikipedia these are not exactly the same consepts. For interwiki linking you may add redirects as sitelinks if you turn on the "intentional sitelink to redirect" badge like I just did for the enwiki sitelink at integral of motion (Q12021694).  Not done, Gregory (Q922983) is a given name in Latin script and Grigori (Q5609054) in Cyrillic script, and they are kept separate on Wikidata. Error when merging dates

I merged two items using the gadget, and as it can be seen in this diff instead of merging the references of publication date (P577) it duplicated the dates. The Phabricator one is about the backend called by both the gadget and the special page. (The example in the description happens to be a merge.js edit, by the way.) However, I didn’t expect you to know that the Phabricator task is about both, I just asked you to mention if you know more, which in this case was that you’ve already discovered a related/similar bug report. Yes, they are indeed the same objects. The error message you got says they can't be merged since the items are linked together with properties of (P642) and said to be the same as (P460). However, we should merge duplicates only once all duplicate pages on different wikis have been merged locally, and that is not the case in several language Wikipedias at the moment.
