I remember going to the cinema to see the original as a teenager and being fascinated by Edward Fox's disguises and how he managed to adopt so many identities. I thought this series would be similar especially since Eddie Redmayne bears a resemblance to Fox.
It has the same title and is about an assassin but does not go into the same detail as the original. It is different. We see the home life of The Jackal and that of the MI6 agent tracking him.
The plot leads to compelling viewing and is a bit like a James Bond movie (the title music even reminds me of Skyfall).
I am a bit confused with myself because I find myself sympathetic to a killer hoping he gets away with his assignments and escapes those who are in pursuit of him. And not liking the ruthlessness of the MI6 female agent, Bianca, who is after him.
I enjoy seeing the different film locations across Europe and look forward to episodes 5-10 hoping they are as captivating.
