My Online Nightmare
(2017)

Not That Smart
The stories would be better told one at a time.

It's episode 4, and I finally realize there are multiple con artists per episode, not one shared con artist per episode.

The stories are solid but confusingly intertwined.

It reminds me of 90 Day Fiance formatting. Doesn't work here. One story at a time is better.

My qualm is so many of these people are not smart.

By episode four, people are donating funds to the wind and expecting a return.

I would prefer people a little bit smarter. Some of these people deserve to get their money stolen, and I don't want to watch that. 😪

The true crime show with Charisma Carpenter is EVERYTHING. 🙌

Nanny
(2022)

Issa No For Me
The acting was nice. The cinematography was excellent. But the plot was incoherent.

No horror whatsoever. Unless you count witnessing her work.

The supernatural element was unnecessary.

And the plot should have a point.

*I am repeating this review to meet character requirements.

*And even after pasting the review, I still need to waste more characters in order to post.

Don't Look Up
(2021)

The Onion in Movie Form
I did not want to like this film.

I consistently thought each scene could have been better.

But it has a The Office feel about it by the time the movie ends. And I almost appreciate the film's quirkiness.

The satire is the most excellent. So excellent that it outshines the movie's subjective flaws.

Something as obvious as a comet heading towards the earth caused such unfortunately relatable consequences.

If you consider yourself cynical, this movie is probably for you.

Being the Ricardos
(2021)

Maybe Different Leads
The timeline was unnecessarily confusing.

The plot was well written.

I agree the Republican line seemed inaccurate for that time period. I won't rant for a whole review on it.

I like it in general, but I do not believe Kidman embodied Lucy well, and Desi looks much older than Lucy.

The Unforgivable
(2021)

Great Acting
The acting excellent all around.

The pace is steady, and the mystery is there.

The cop-killer portion is a very small dose of our reality.

I like the brevity and ending as well.

Blood Fest
(2018)

Could Have Been Great
The plot was excellent.

The execution was not.

It's the tacky and corny choices that irritate me.

The film is entertaining from beginning to end, though.

Space Force
(2020)

Drama
This is a lighthearted drama.

Not a comedy.

Not a dramedy.

Drama.

If it were better paced and had steady laughs, it might fit in with the AppleTV roster.

By the final episode, the show made sense.

That said, I don't recommend this show unless you have patience and a very quirky perspective.

Red Notice
(2021)

Average Entertainment
This movie is corny, but it is entertaining.

Ryan Reynolds is great as Deadpool. I look forward to him expanding to other characters. One. Day. It definitely does not work for me in this film.

Dwayne Johnson is great. Per usual.

The plot unfolds well. The pace is solid. And the twists, though expected, are well executed.

The gore is low, and the film is campy enough to be a family film.

Not my type of film, but I will watch the sequel.

The Girl Next Door
(2007)

Depressing Drama
"A woman is better off loathsome in this world."

That is the tone of this drama. It is not a mystery, horror, or thriller.

It is depressing and very plausible, considering how many of us negatively treat women to this day.

The inferior species, as one man calls women.

Negative reviewers would do better being introspective about the ways they perpetuate this terribly violent and dehumanizing mindset.

Deadcon
(2019)

Might Could Have Been Dope
It is well filmed. Great casting and acting. The lines are well written.

The plot is unfinished.

All the pieces are literally here for a dope film, and somehow it plays like editing left out vital scenes.

Why?

Spiral: From the Book of Saw
(2021)

That Soundtrack, Though
The best thing about this movie is the soundtrack.

Only on music platforms.

Not the way the audio is poorly engineered in this film, though.

This film could have been a 40 minute episode in the Book of Saw Netflix series.

Chris Rock is terrible for this film. The way he speaks. Every time he says Pete, I cringe.

Lawrence is too good to be in this film.

Somebody lied to them both.

The plot is gruesome fairy tale af. Nice. Not very plausible, though. And stretched so thin it's transparent.

This movie should have been good, but it was executed terribly.

Big Pharma Being Messy
I do not like to watch many dramas, but I knew this would be important.

Ignore the low reviews if you agree Big Pharma is the business of staying in business, even if it means death or addiction.

From Danny Strong to Kaitlyn Dever to Rosario Dawson, this cast is excellent.

The episodes and timelines are confusing to me. That did not discourage me from learning more about the Real Drug War.

The variety of oxycontin victim backgrounds is solid as well.

I hope this show wins awards and informs many of pharmaceutical addiction and death.

The Harder They Fall
(2021)

A Shrug in Movie Form
The plot is thin.

But the acting is enveloping.

There are better black westerns. Period.

I liked the soundtrack; however, it could have been better developed and more soulful.

The film simply shows black cowboys existed in not so solid blaxploitation form.

This film is not Tarantino-esque, though the influence is murkily possible.

Overall, this film is boring. Funny but boring. It plays like money was spent; so, the film had to get released.

The Forever Purge
(2021)

Solid
I appreciate how the movie focused on us all treating each other better.

The reviews about race are inaccurate, considering there was little to no mention in the movie.

There is ethnicity bias; however, The Purge series generally is equal opportunity with its character stories.

I look forward to future films. The TV series should return, because it supplements the films well.

Thir13en Ghosts
(2001)

Entertaining
The plot is interesting and a bit convoluted.

90 minutes is stuffed with information, entertainment, and solid pacing.

Very much a thriller.

The movie is extra corny in all aspects, but the family's humor is the highlight for me. Specifically Rah Digga.

The Purge
(2013)

Quite Possible
Mix this with Handmaids Tale, and we have the Conservative Future. 😒😒😒

I like the plot. It is well developed and leaves so much room for spinoffs, sequels, and prequels.

The characters are well developed, and the actors portray well.

I hope this never actually happens.

Hypnotic
(2021)

A Series of Trash Decisions
Not one good decision is made in this film.

The most basic of plots is stretched way beyond palpability.

Meanwhile, hypnotherapy does not work like that. At. All.

The acting is somehow solid, though.

W lesie dzis nie zasnie nikt II
(2021)

Weird
The plot is fathomable, even artistic. The gore is in excess, and I am here for it.

However, in Act II or III, it gets fundamentally weird. Without giving anything away, I did not sign up for that extended and awkward character development.

Still, the film is decent, and the end gives me enough closure.

Ghost Lab
(2021)

No
The plot is decent. Its execution is remedial. And it is not well paced. The acting is average, and the English subbing is not distracting. This is a drama, barely a thriller. Very little horror or mystery.

Kingdom
(2019)

The Struggle
I like the premise a lot.

The zombies are conceptually sound.

The characters are intriguing.

However, characters choices are often so questionable that it detracts from the excellent plot.

Very much: If you would have done this, we could have been there. But now we're here. Struggling.

The Stranded
(2019)

Bad Character Choices and Development
The plot could have been executed much better.

In theory, it is interesting, though.

The pace is also unnecessarily slow.

The cinematography and dubbing is decent.

Pasture
(2020)

Pretentious
I cannot stand art piece films.

Intentionally being confusing so the elite few can "get it." Rude.

I am a fan of mystery; so, I know how to follow a disjointed plot. This ain't it. It's simply messy when it could have made sense.

Make it make sense DURING the film.

😒😒😒

Distancia de rescate
(2021)

Lost in Translation
I watched with English audio.

I assume it makes more sense in Spanish. The Spanish title does.

Rescue Distance. It is the "thread" that makes it make sense. It is repeated continuously. And somebody chose Fever Dream instead?!

I have more questions. And very few answers.

Madres made sense. The poetry in this film seems lost in translation.

Bad Samaritan
(2018)

Mentally Challenged
Neither of these main characters is intelligent.

No masks. No gloves. No concern for cameras. Never mind returning Cale's car. And Sean's citizenship means nothing.

Sean deserves everything he gets for being an idiot in public. He overreacts to everything and expects to be taken seriously. Standing still breathing hard.

Derek ain't much smarter.

Even Riley and Katie are inexcusably mentally challenged.

It's unbearable how dumb Sean is. Ireland should trade him (Dave Chappelle).

And who survives being repeatedly hit by a shovel?

The end monologue is an unnecessary filibuster.

Another movie where the villain could have been killed instead of momentarily incapacitated.

The Gathering
(2003)

Good in Theory
The Gathering concept itself may explain why so many characters are ill equipped to make smart decisions.

That still does not excuse the naive decisions.
