Delhi Belly
(2011)

A fun ride!
A crazy, entertaining, dark comedy. It's good to see an Indian film of this genre. Songs are really creative. One must listen to the full album.

12 Monkeys
(1995)

Good but not the best.
The story is about a man from the present going back in time to learn more about a virus that killed almost every human on the planet. Unable to prevent the past from occurring, the people in present seek to understand the virus in order to find a cure.

By now, in 2020, we have seen a lot of films of this genre. Many of us watching it today would not appreciate this film as much as it deserves, considering it was made in 1995.

The initial scenes leave us quite confused. But as the film progresses, the confusion recedes.

Although I wasn't blown away, I would still say it was a decent film.

Serbuan maut 2: Berandal
(2014)

One of the best action films!
The Raid films are a beautiful gift for fans of the action genre.

The first film was quite simple on the plot and focused completely on the action. The Raid 2 goes further into the world and brings in new characters and storylines without compromising on the action. There are a lot of fight sequences and they are INCREDIBLE.

If you are a fan of this genre, the Raid series and the John Wick series are a must-watch!

Queen
(2013)

An uplifting, feel-good film!
The story revolves around the journey of Kangana's character as she discovers herself and gains confidence after her fiance has left her a day before the wedding.

Although a simple and predictable story, it is quite enjoyable to watch.

It is completely a Kangana Ranaut show. She is the star of the film. But the supporting cast is likable too.

Finally, the message in the film is a much needed one for the Indian audiences.

Worth a watch!

Dark
(2017)

One of the best shows I have seen!
Dark is a masterpiece.

This show is a treat for all the sci-fi lovers. It is so well-crafted and meticulously-written that it has now set a new bar for time-travel shows and films. The attention to detail is top-notch. The makers of the show expect you to pay attention to everything because "everything is connected" indeed.

I am glad that they did not stretch it to more seasons. It felt like it was always written to be for 3 seasons and it was perfect right till the end.

For non-Germans, I would recommend watching in German audio with English subtitles. The actors have done a phenomenal job. English audio would ruin that experience for you.

Even the intro song is so damn good. Never skipped it.

Us
(2019)

Not for Everyone.
This film is definitely not be taken in its literal sense. It is a complex film with many layers and demands some analysis. Americans would relate to this film more than others. Nonetheless, it is still worth a watch for everyone.

1917
(2019)

While being technically brilliant, other aspects could have been better.
I regret not watching this film on the big screen. Watching on your laptop does not give you the immersive feel that the makers have intended for you with the one-long-shot method.

This is a cinematic masterpiece. A technical genius. When you understand the amount of work that went into shooting each scene, you appreciate the film even more.

Having said that, I would have loved the film to be crisper and tighter. Moreover, some scenes feel huge coincidences and don't make a lot of sense. They are there to make things difficult for the main character but only a little.

Overall, I believe one would love this film only if he has watched it in the theatres, else he would end up getting a bit bored.

Knives Out
(2019)

Brilliant!
An entertaining well crafted murder mystery with a lot of intricate details. No complaints!

Dil Dhadakne Do
(2015)

A Good Film! (For the most part)
The film revolves around a rich family and their internal problems. For the world, they are the perfect family, which is not actually the case however.

I loved the way how the shallowness of the characters was depicted throughout the film. Nobody wants to talk about their true emotions because of the fear of "society". Even though the story is about an upper class family, it is quite relatable across all classes.

While the film is entertaining, it does feel a bit stretched at times. The songs are forgettable except one. The climax could definitely have been better.

Overall it is a fun, light film and can be watched with your family.

A lot of positive things to take away from!

The Prestige
(2006)

One of the best films I have seen!
The movie itself plays like a magic trick. The Pledge, The Turn and The Prestige.

Throughout the film, Nolan has kept the secret (which is revealed in the end) in plain sight but we are not really looking. Only during my second watch was I able to notice all the minute details.

Also, towards the end we may feel a little disappointed after knowing the secret because well, afterall, "we want to be fooled".

I need not talk about the actors. They are amazing! Each one of them!

Overall, the movie is worth watching more than once. Highly recommended!
