A great shame as some of the characters could have been developed.

Plot is aweful

Goofs are a plenty.

The cast try hard but is it so poorly written and directed.

Oliver Reed and Michael J Pollard are both superb in this War Time movie.

Great story based on a combination of true events: the real life experience of a British POW working in a war time zoo for the Germans and the moving of an Elephant from a Vienna Zoo during the war.

Michael Winner works a small Masterpiece before he went in to bigger movies.

A great watch.

I watched this whilst off school with an illness in 1983 in three Betamax tapes, for some reason my father was also at home whilst I was at home. We watched the three tapes together and it has left a life long impression on my sole. A truley remarkable and underrated film.
