The Black Dahlia
(2006)

Why the hate?
I know that a lot of people (including myself) where expecting a lot more from this film, mainly because it's directed by DePalma and has an all star cast.

TBD is not an easy film to watch, but that doesn't mean it's bad, not all detective movies are like 'The Departed'.

Specially when they deal with issues strong as this movie like pornography, insanity & betrayal.

The only problem with this movie is that at points it throws such amount of information and one gets confused (I did), but apart of that it's a good movie.

Bridge to Terabithia
(2007)

A Bridge to Hope
Briefly put: Bridge to Terabithia is picture about kids, and how kids see the world and how do they react to their environment and their daily situations.

It's a truly moving picture, with beautiful cinematography, music & terrific performances from the two leading kids (Hutcherson & Robb).

The script is also carefully written, avoiding clichés and being as realistic as it can be, After all we were all kids at some point in our life.

On the other hand beauty Zooey Deschanel and veteran Robert Patrick both appear in supporting roles. They're pretty good but the kids outshines them, after all it's their movie

See the movie, rent it or buy it, it's worth every single dollar , believe me you'll not get disappointed.

House M.D.: Resignation
(2007)
Episode 22, Season 3

Maybe she's right...
The episode revolves around Foreman's resignation, it also presents a new character : Honey

Foreman still feels responsible of his two mistakes in the past two episodes. He knows sometimes extreme measures should be taken to save a patient life but he also knows he doesn't have what it takes, he prefers to kill less people rather than save patients with extreme measures... maybe he's right.

This episode foreshadow things to come in the final two episodes, Cameron and Chase treats House like crap, not listening what he has to say and then try to solve the case themselves. Obviously they fail.

The patient's parents also treat House like crap, and when he saves his daughter they asked him for advice, House declines and maybe he's right ... you can treat people like crap and then ask him for advice.

Apparently House has been struggling depression, Wilson has been giving special coffee with anti depressives for a long time. House suspects Wilson is depressed and charges his coffee with amphetamines ... with hysterical results.

House meets Honey (a vegan nutritionist) in clinical duty, and after she breaks up with her boyfriend (for eating a cheeseburger) House asks her to a bar in order to discuss a job application.

In the bar Honey soon discovers it isn't a job interview but a date ... Surprisingly enough House opens to her (something he has never done before) and Honey instead of running away admires him for being honest, and tells him that he can't be depressed after saving people's life ... maybe she's right.

The Departed
(2006)

Arrrrggghhhhhhhh!!!,
Honestly I am surprised.

This is by far the worst movie from Scorsese ever.

It is Nothing more than an action Hollywood clichéd movie... But way gorier than the average ones although it is good entertainment

Terrible Performances (Why was Jack Nicholson cast, when you have actors like Robert DeNiro or William Hurt who can play a gangster better?)

DiCaprio playing (once again) himself and Alec Baldwin... well.

Mark Whalberg was good, so was the guy who plays Mr. French, and Matt Damon was not bad either. Vera Farmiga was underused (No wonder Scorsese wanted someone new, a famous actress would have never taken the role).

The movie could have been pretty good if it weren't full of racial slurs and many carbon copied scenes.

There is no way to deny that this movie got a pity Oscar, and pity awards, courtesy of 'critics' that felt sorry for Mr. Scorsese long 'overlooked' career... But I'm more enraged that it won screenplay unless that category has been changed to 'Best copied screenplay'

If you value cinema as an art form, avoid this and watch the original but if you want to be entertained watch this instead and don't expect a lot

Trois couleurs: Rouge
(1994)

Beautiful. Outstanding. The movie from the 90's
Master Kieslowsky came with an idea in 1993, the idea was to portrait how human relationship are in the world today, passing from Blue (a crafted visual masterpiece about a woman's life) from White (A visual comedy movie about marriage) and finally arriving to Red (A masterpiece dealing with human interaction).

While I'm not going to spoil the move I can easily say Red is the best movie from the 90's decade because it has one of the strongest messages in a script I have ever ever seen.

The movie begins a little slow but finds it's rhythm early enough to keep you hooked through the whole movie.

The performances are perfect, sublime. since the characters are completely realistic and they're not clichéd in any way and one could expect no less from the actors and one doesn't get disappointed... seriously I believe Jean Louis Tringtignat deserved an Oscar nod at least.

The music from Zbiegnew Preisner is amazing it's one of the best musical scores ever. Piotr Sobocinsk Cinematography is also outstanding he got an Oscar nod for it (and deserved to win).

Overall the movie is a perfect 10 and will be loved by people that love foreign cinema and people who don't. Don't Miss it.

How did the awful Pulp Fiction beat ed this masterpiece at Cannes is beyond my comprehension

Mou gaan dou
(2002)

One of the best scripts ever
Mou gaan dou (U.S. Title Infernal Affairs) has one of the best scripts ever of the contemporary cinema. the actors, the director are great yes, but all the power this movie has is in the script.

The script is as realistic as a movie can be (There is no realistic movie) it has flaws (because there is no perfect script either) but all the great things in it overwhelmed the flaws.

Two main characters is all you need to create a great movie you don't need to write the classic clichés to make the movie work you just have to feel what they feel. If you can do that your movie will be perfect.

Yan is a troubled man working as undercover for 10 years he became crazy (anybody should) up to the point when he becomes paranoiac. He has nothing to loose because he has no identity, he hates his job. in one word he is desperate to get his life back. Be somebody again

Ming on the other hand has got everything since he did things straight he became troubled because he friends with all his partners, he moves in with his girl, he now has something loose and he knows that if his cover is blow he will loose everything. He doesn't want to be a nobody again.

The script is how the environment where we live and the people we are surrounded changes us up to the point where we become different people that we once were.

The film is great mainly because of his script and the reason I hate the American remake (The Departed) is because William Monahan took away everything beautiful the original script had and turned it into a C-Action movie full of Hollywood clichés.
