Down Home Fab
(2023)

Down Home Drab...
Would be a more fitting name for this POS show. No talent and no vision outside of black as her go to color choice. When there are so many good design shows on HGTV, this doesn't even compare to all the others that do have talent and crews that are enjoyable to watch. I understand that HGTV is trying to reach a broader audience, but maybe someone from the network, can read honest reviews here, and see just what a failure she is. Don't look for an influencer and think that their followers will transfer over. If you want new shows, maybe look online for new designers and examine their work and build a new show around them.

Cancel this show already HGTV.

Thor: Love and Thunder
(2022)

Yawn
I had high hopes for this movie, but the expectation did not meet the reality. Heavy handed, tries too hard, not funny when they try, and a bit of a "religious" undertone about the afterlife. The story just wasn't as compelling as previous Marvel movies. I actually was a bit bored and we saw it on a Sunday afternoon, which may account for only 6 people in the whole theater, though we chose the 3 D version. Save your money and maybe stream it online, if you really need to see it.

Playing with Fire
(2019)

Kids Movie but....
Plenty of adult humor that will fly over children's heads. My husband and I sat on the theater surrounded by kids and their parents. Entire theater was laughing. No one is winning an Oscar, but that's not the point. Just good clean fun and way better than the ctapfrst Last Christmas is.

Last Christmas
(2019)

Last Crapfest Is More Like It
Man pick, and we only lased 40 minutes and walked out. Nothing redeemable, and while we normally like Emilia Clark, even she couldn't save this poorly written, and ridiculous movie. Emma Thomas should stick to acting, and George Michael is rolling in his grave at this cringe fest.

Avengers: Endgame
(2019)

Meh- Good Riddance
No spoilers, but IMHO it was over produced, over hyped, and way too long. They could easily cut 45 minutes out. I found myself checking my watch to see how long was left, not a good thing. Best description is convoluted. Even though I hope this to be the last Avengers movie, they will find other ways to milk it. I am more of a DC universe fan, though for my hubby I go for him. Not much of an audience reaction either, even though it was sold out. Note to Marcus Theater, how you run out of ice for drinks by 9 pm should be addressed, but on the other hand, 5.00 for soda means more soda for your buck. If you take kids, go early,it's a long 3 hours.

The Upside
(2017)

Chick Pick but..
This movie truly brought both if us joy. Not sure why the critics are so jaded, but these were solid performances by Hart and Cranston. Funny without being forced, and backstory informative enough without having to belabor a point, I hope to see theses two toe again. Kidmans acting was wooden, but doesn't affect the movie overall. Highly recommend for a adult night out.

Surprise Homecoming
(2011)

Good Premise, Poorly Executed
Usually I enjoy a good tear jerker, and soldiers surprising loved ones should hit the mark. But Billy Ray Virus as a host kills it, as does the production. Very poorly thought out plans, surprises and unless you are a member of the family or friend being surprised it falls flat.

If anything, they should do a more in-depth character study, build up what the families have been through, build up some suspense..anything but at the end of the day, we don't get to know the families well enough to really care about the "homecoming"

They need a better formula than:

See soldier come home, see family cry, lather rinse repeat.

Revamp the show and get rid of the host. This isn't supposed to be about Billy Ray.
