Secondhand Lions
(2003)

Terrific Movie!
It is so rare these days to see a film with such a great story, filled with imagination, plenty of excitement, adventure and plain good fun but without profanity, gore and gratuitous sexual scenes. The story was unique, and the acting was excellent. I had never heard of this motion picture before and didn't really know what to expect. Both my wife and I found it to be a delightful fantasy.

The excellent music complemented the movie perfectly. I love it when the credits are given in a very creative and interesting manner, as they are in this film. We especially enjoyed the yodelling in the final song "Rolling Stone from Texas" written and performed by Don Walser (whom I had never heard of before).

Julie Walking Home
(2002)

Too much completely unnecessary profanity
This was a very interesting story, and I would have rated it very much higher had it not contained so much completely gratuitous profanity which really detracted from the movie. I find it especially grating on the nerves when people use the "F" word so much, when it only detracts from the dialogue and spoils the whole mood of the film. The beginning of the movie really grabs your attention. From there, the story is really interesting, and also quite unique. The quality of the acting is good for the most part. I would love to watch a version of this movie edited to be suitable as family entertainment, or rated G. It would be so much more enjoyable. There were also some sensual scenes which did not add anything at all to the story.

Holiday in Your Heart
(1997)

A great movie!!
I cannot believe the low average rating for this movie (5)! It is one of the best I have seen in a long time. The acting is good, the singing is really excellent and it is filled with good people -- the kind of people that fill my life as relatives and friends (unlike the unlikeable characters that populate most movie scripts these days). It has a very uplifting story, and there is absolutely no violence, profanity or sexual innuendos. What a treat! The only reason that I did not give it a "10" is that the principal actress did not look as if she were 14 years old. However, this is not very important, as her singing voice is so beautiful. Perhaps it is a bit idealistic, but we need much more idealism in our entertainment.

The Usual Suspects
(1995)

The foul language was enough to deter me from watching the whole movie
After reading all the positive ratings, I was looking forward to watching it. However, there is so much foul language that we had to turn it off after only a short while.

A very small amount of swearing can, perhaps, make a movie more realistic to some people, however, this one goes way "overboard" in this department.

There are many high action, crime, murder and mystery movies that do not rely on swearing to make their points. Unfortunately, this is not one of them.

I agree with Simon P. Beyer who stated that the movie is nothing but a complete waste of time. There is absolutely no logic in the story, the characters are boring and everything is mixed together and that makes the movie very confusing and extremely boring. I am also sorry that it isn't possible to vote less than 1 for this movie. An example of a GOOD crime movie is: "The Silence Of The Lambs" or most of Alfred Hitchcock's thrillers. They don't resort to gratuitous obscenity like this one does.
