Croupier
(1998)

Pretty Entertaining
Owen plays quite well the role of a disillusioned writer who, it appears, has a past as a croupier in South Africa. When he starts to get back to business, things get interesting. This was moreover a good movie. It gives a glance at the world of gambling, features news faces (to me at least), and the results is quite entertaining. You might read bad critics about the movie. First of all, Owen does play the character well. of course he seems unpassioned and it could feel like he's not putting much of himself into the role. That is so wrong, the guy is cool, in the first meaning: his croupier job is to act it cool, to get impressed by nothing, and from there, he lives the same way. But sometimes, well sometimes he has to let it go, to gamble even if he "never gambles". The action is not that quiet, the only thing is that this is not an Hollywood-style movie: the twists in the action are not punctuated by thrilling music etc. The action is all left to the spectator's appreciation, it's up to him to fully enjoy what is happening. The croupier is an interesting character, you might even get attached to him and his fake non-challance. Watch this movie, you should like it. If not, you will have spent an interesting hour and a half.

People I Know
(2002)

Very Good Movie
Don't pay that much attention about all the bad comments you will hear: this is a very interesting movie.

To sum up, Al Pacino is an agent for all kind of people: stars, politicians... Therefore, he knows a lot of people and way too much about them. Now, the problem is that to many spectators the movie seemed empty. True there is no action, and true there is no big storyline. But it doesn't matter! This movie is about describing the "high spheres" of New York society. It is a good lesson on how corrupted the system is, how hypocrite people can be, and how you can't rely on anybody, even so-called friends. Everyone will turn his back on you when it comes to his own interest.

Al Pacino acts great in this movie. It's a very hard part since there is no real guideline, but he does the job wonderfully. You will see an OLD Al Pacino, a TIRED Al Pacino, that might disappoints you if you remember him as the lively and shouting "mister Devil's Advocate", but it's an interesting side of him that you might discover.

The Sixth Sense
(1999)

Not that brilliant
OK, first of all ,you won't find any spoiler in there, so you are safe. I won't go through the movie because it has already been done. I will just say that although this movie has very good acting and directing, it is not a "thriller-masterpiece". It is more like a good human tragedy, with a lot of feelings expressed. If you expect something frightening or thrilling, you will either be disappointed or maybe you are just an easy spectator not asking much from a movie, no offense intended. The whole problem with the 6th sense is that if you pay attention to what really happens, which you should do with any movie, you understand right away what it is about, and it lose the taste that made people vote 10/10 for it.
