Splinter
(2006)

Decent movie, bad casting...
I liked this movie considering it was about gangs. Usually I cannot stand these types of movies however I found this tolerable. What I could not stand is the main female actress. She was supposed to be a hard a** personality but would break down crying over things that seemed to be not so important. The movie did not develop her character too well and yet a lot hinged on her.

The male characters were good, but not great. It was typical of the gang movie style. I am not sure why this movie caught my attention though, usually I would loose interest fast and stop watching.

There is something i liked and respected in this movie. I am not sure what is was but I will say this is a movie I probably would not watch a second time.

The Chronicles of Riddick
(2004)

Why are there no good endings.....?
Spoiler Alert

This Movie was OK. Riddick was really cool and of course kicked lots of @$$. However, the story line was a little hard to follow. The only relation to the first movie pitch black was Keith David or the character Abu 'Imam' al-Walid. Alexa Davalos replaced Rhiana Griffith who was Jack/Jackie and now called Kyra. And of course the only other (Besides Imam) character to remain true to character was Vin Diesel as Richard B. Riddick. The only thing true to the story line of the first film is a lot of main characters die. There were lots of gaps left between Pitch Black (2000) and Chronicles of Riddick, The (2004). Some say most of those gaps are filled by Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury, The (2004) (V). I would not know I have yet to see it. However, I do not know if it is just my luck or if it is the new style of movie but….. All of the main characters from Pitch Black should have all died and only Riddick get away. This is because in The Chronicles of Riddick whatever character does not die in the first version (Pitch Black) WILL DIE in the second (The Chronicles of Riddick). This includes Jack/Jackie/Kyra who for most of the movie (actually 99% of it) involves Riddick Trying to save. In the end the movie would be GREAT if the ending were BETTER.

Matchstick Men
(2003)

GREAT MOVIE UNTIL THE ENDING
I enjoyed most of the movie. Including all of the cheats, lies, and dirty tricks. I also enjoyed the second story line of a father getting to know his 14 year old daughter for the first time. The father even teaches the daughter some of his trade and then has her return the money she conned letting her know her that it is not a profession she should get into But the ending has an emotional slam when Cage is about to change his life around for someone he loves and gets conned himself. To ME the ending was too harsh and ruined the movie. The fathers love for his new found daughter was revealed as her con on him. This ending hit me to hard and although appropriate for the style of movie, it was again too harsh for me.
