Great Film!
This movie is so entertaining! Its 16 minutes were far more enjoyable than most full-length feature films. I saw it at the Stony Brook Film Festival where the audience response was overwhelmingly positive. We laughed out loud on multiple occasions. I think anyone who has ever had a blind date that lead to a relationship can relate to this film.

The actors were great, the dialog was funny and the "glimpses of the future" were hilarious. It was a very effective format to display the humor of the plot. And I love the way everything came together in the end!

I can't wait to see what else Douglas Horn puts out. I hope he is working on some full-length features so that a wider audience can get to see his work.

non-mocking "Mockumentary"
I saw this last night at the Stony Brook Film Festival and I kept having to remind myself that it was not a real documentary! The individual characters are not well developed but the "teams" of film makers are.

The music is amazing--the people in the band have such great voices. My biggest problem with it was the cinematography. It was shot like "The Blair Witch Project" in that unsteady format and I was actually "sea-sick" from it! Would I recommend it? Yes. It was an innovative piece of film-making. Would I see it again? Not without Dramamine! TO be honest I'd rather listen to the CD.

Wear Something Nice

Adorable
I saw this short at the Stony Brook Film Festival (July 2005, Long Island, NY) and loved it. (I bought multiple copies of the CD for friends!) It was funny, quirky, touching and a film that I think many single women over the age of 29 can relate to. The characters were hilarious, especially the woman who played Jacquie's mother. I had the pleasure of meeting the film makers (both Jacquie and Camille) who were so appreciative of the positive reaction their movie received from the SBFF audience. (As a matter of fact, the movie won "Audience Choice For Best Short" at the festival!) I can't wait until they turn it into a full-length Feature film! Good luck ladies!

Elles étaient cinq

Incredible film
I was so unexpectedly blown away by this film. The movie tells a powerful story, but the manner in which the plot is revealed is the real achievement. Ghyslaine Cote skillfully provides the viewer with a glimpse into a very violent crime in a guarded and artistic way, allowing the audience to feel the brutality of the attack without seeing the gory details. The trauma of the "event" -- both while it is taking place and as we watch its resultant longterm consequences -- is so effectively conveyed on the faces of the women, especially Jacinthe Laguë (Manon.) The film is one of subtle intensity peppered with flashes of jarring images that pierce you like Thibodeau's knife. For "foreign-film-phobes": you will become so engrossed in the story you will not notice that you are hearing a foreign language or reading subtitles. I truly hope that this film goes the way of "Life Is Beautiful" and is seen by mass American audiences despite the subtitles.

Chilling is right
This is such a powerful movie. Without revealing any of the plot details, I will just say that at the "preclimactic" moment I thought it was anyone's guess as to which way the chips would fall... I was literally holding my breath in anticiaption.

The movie was beautifully shot, artfully written and skillfully acted. I can't shake the image of the characters as each realizes the life-altering consequences that their behavior had on themselves and each other.

I saw it at the Stony Brook Festival (July 2005) and hope it will be released nationally although I'm not so sure it's a film that will appeal to a wide audience. I admire Campbell Scott and his production company for making the film. I hope at the very least that it successfully plays the "art house" theaters and has a big DVD distribution. I think that word-of-mouth will take this film far among true movie lovers.
