Abandoned
(2022)

It's Over. (Thankfully)
PG13 horror movies are usually not very good. Let's see how this one goes. I have very low expectations.

The beginning was sort of good. Woman screaming. Baby Crying. Gunshots. Lots of Joy but no visuals of what was happening.

Emma Roberts is nice to look at. And when she's trying to breastfeed her new baby, you could hope for some T action but of course this is PG13 so that's just a negative. -1 Star

So it appears there's something about the neighborhood wants her baby is the gist I get. We've seen this type of movie many many times before.

The movie, the rest of it anyway. Was pretty weak. A lot of baby crying which got excessive. And another bathtub scene for absolutely no reason since it didn't show anything at all. -1 Star

The Resident: Pilot
(2018)
Episode 1, Season 1

It Was Good To Meet You.
Medical shows are a dime a dozen and it's really difficult to find a show as good as ER, or House. The pilot of a show is supposed to hook you and make you want to watch another episode. I will say that this pilot ep. Hits that mark.

The dude from the Good Wife is excellent in this episode and his character seems like he's going to be a good one. The new Resident, seems like he'll be a good character too, altho I doubt anyone will ever be as good as the ER. Guys.

The premise of the show is of course a really good question, do you really do more harm that you do good? As a doctor what are your actual responsibilities?

Looking forward to seeing more. 8/10.

Jason Bourne
(2016)

Did You Really Need To Kill Nicky???
I really enjoy the Bourne movies overall.. This particular one I just got tired of the cliches. All the guys that get knocked out with one Bourne punch. All the security guys that let Bourne go by them even though they should be 'on the lookout' for his face. That there is always one more villain behind the enormous conspiracy that was 'Treadstone'.

These things all get tedious and tiresome after a while.

In this one we also get to hate a Zuckerberg stand in, So we can take a look at how Big Tech companies work with government for evil purposes, as if we didn't know already.

And they had to kill off Nicky Parsons. I guess she was getting too old for the franchise, and replace her with a younger model to be Bourne's inside person.

It's actually pretty sad. And they talk about how they are trying to make a difference for women in Hollywood. Actually that is pretty maddening.

5/10.

The Babadook
(2014)

My Cousin's Not Coming Because I Broke Her Nose In Two Places
I watch this movie every year or so, and I will say for a made for TV movie, for IFC, it's pretty good. I mean if you were just rating IFC movies this would probably be in the top 10 of anything they've ever made.

However, by standards of horror movies it is a fairly mediocre often told tale. The haunting of a momma and child. There's a few good effects and few annoying jumpscares. There's the annoying little boy. There's the possessed momma.

There's little twist at the end which is fun. And makes the movie teetering toward a likable score. It's a nice story but we've all seen much much better.

6/10.

The Heretics
(2017)

They Won't Need You After Sunrise.
Another IFC production. Start off with a typical girl on a rack with a bunch of masked chanting robed figures...ahh darn it's a dream. Lame. That's the hook?

Then we have 2 women in bed together and no nudity? Lame -1 Star.

Some hillbilly with a shotgun kidnaps girl in van, chains her up in shackles but still leaves her clothes on. More lame. More dreams. Oh he's supposed to be helping her. But she's coughing up blood. She doesn't know what's wrong with her, but he does.

Meanwhile she's been missing a few hours and her family and friends have put up a thousand missing posters and are canvassing the area.

Okay apparently the crazy friend looking for victim woman is out to sacrifice her. Friend offs cops and mommas and everyone. Protective dude is trying to save victim woman from crazy friend woman.

That's the basic premise of the movie and the latter half and the end is mostly crud and it doesn't get any better..

4/10.

Episode 9, Season 2

They Touch. They Break. They Steal. No One Here Is Free.
This ep. Starts off pretty good. Starts off with a death. Of course it's one of the bus people. Since we know they're all mostly fodder. Mostly. +1 Star.

Attitude gets a little bit carried away. And he tosses away keys to the van. Now...I thought that was stupid, because any of 3 people could have seen where they landed and just got them right away. -1 Star.

Que Sera Sera.

Sara tries to have a conversation with Kenny. And the annoying kid strikes again during a conversation at the Colony House.

In the van, the group seems way more confident than they used to be about having the curtains open and looking out at the THINGS after Dark. And Mari has an episode in front of Kristi. And the van people are hit with a dark turn and decide to make a break for it. Boyd again firing his gun uselessly at the Things. Then he sees his wife. How did Donna get the van going if they didn't have the keys? Dumb -1 Star

And Attitude is making a run for it. Oh no, CICADAS!!! Those CGI Cicadas surely would have made a decent meal when they were crawling down his throat. -1 Star

Okay Sara gets out Boyds extra gun and plays a little Russian Roulette. I like that ! +1 Star. And then it appears the imaginary cicadas are coming for three people and Julie is going to the third!

Really not impressed. 3/10.

Episode 7, Season 2

I Haven't Told Ellis Yet.
Man I hope this ep. Is better than the last one. It doesn't start off good tho, ELLIS is up and walking around the next morning after suffering from that almost fatal stab wound? Oh PLEEZ. -1 Star.

Que Sera Sera.

Tea Cup takes Attitude out for a hike and a convo about the drone. Attitude brings up a solid point. Why don't you think any of the people here are in on it? Haha. +1 Star.

The Annoying Kid and Victor have a talk and become 'friends' again.

What I really don't get is why all the bad dreams all of a sudden? Now Junkie is having dreams about the music box as well?

So another pregnancy that is not supposed to be possible? More parallels to LOST. I do love Donna's reaction however.

So finally they get to breaking up Smiley's body. Kristi opens it up. They find the body completely desiccated except for the bile in the gall bladder. Okay a fun scene enough for a +1 Star.

Little bit of a sppoky ending. 6/10.

Episode 6, Season 2

Is It Dead? We'll Find Out Soon Enough
I was hoping we could talk, Boyd says. Boyd.... I still am not sure about how I feel about him. He's flaky at times just like MICHAEL WAS IN LOST!

Boyd returns to the Church to find all the furniture gone. And a ballerina? WTH is going on? WoopS! Apparently he tripped and knocked hisself out! Bad dreams!

Okay so Boyd is seeing things, especially this ballerina and a music box. This is to do with something he got from the blood transfer from the geezer in the woods.

Okay I found it fairly stupid that Kenny is following Boyd around who is obviously seeing things and Kenny just stands stupidly staring at him. If I was Kenny, I'd be slapping Boyd in the face and telling him to get back to reality. -1 Star.

Then when Boyd pulls his gun on the Junkie I had a total Libby/Ana Lucia vibe. Haha. Hey at least he didn't shoot her! -1 Star.

And Ellis gets stabbed by his own guy and then has to be transported while bleeding out to see Kristi and Boyd. This amount of blood he lost I highly doubt he would have remained consciousness and would have most likely died. Boyd is right about the transfusion. Then Kenny pulls a gun on Boyd? Then Kenny comes up with the idea to pass the blood thing along. And Boyd thinks oh my I'll pass it on to one of the things outside. Now, this thought process is good and might be worthy of a Star, however...the scene is crucified imo when the things outside simply allow Boyd to do what he does, and then also let him get away. That makes NO SENSE at all. It was just stupidly written. -1 Star.

After Boyd kills Smiley, theres a few minor interactions. Really this is one of the most poorly written episodes of the series. 2/10.

From: This Way Gone
(2023)
Episode 4, Season 2

You Watch Your Own Frakin Six.
Okay so a flashback for the opening. Interesting. I liked Kenny's dad. Too bad he didn't last long.

Boyd finds out from Sara that she is connected to the PLACE. And Boyd tries to explain this to Kenny. Boyd is also seeing Matrix like 'worms' crawling thru his arms.,

Haha. The annoying kid goes to Victor's room to see Victor. Then of course immediately becomes annoying with the questions. 'What are you drawing?' Then apologizes to Victor and actually goes away! All on his own! Yes! Go away more often kid!!!

Boyd gets a med check.

Donna and Tea Cup have a little chat. He knows that everything they do is being watched. And Donna knows too! Donna is truly the voice of wisdom on the show. +1 Star.

Donna kicks Neanderthal man out of the colony house.. And we find out the kooky old woman from the bus's name is Tillie.

Kenny finally loses it that Boyd kept Sara alive after what Sara did to Kenny's dad.

Slow ep. Moderately good. 6/10.

From: Choosing Day

Episode 3, Season 1

Get These People Home Sheriff. Yeah Frank, I Promise.
Okay I posted a Review for the wrong ep. Here so let me start this one over!

I do seriously like this MGM show! So after the recap... we go to the colony house....is that Donna bouncing up and down on top of someone? Oh my. It sure looked like it. Haha. +1 Star

Then Jade wakes up and him and Donna have a convo. Then suddenly all I can think of is when I was just a little boy how I asked my father what will I be?

Boyd has a conversation with a now sober Frank who obviously regrets his role in getting his wife and daughter killed. And they talk about how Frank is going into the box.

Donna tries to explain to Jade where he is and Jade laughs about it thinking this is all some expensive joke being played on him. That is actually funny stuff! +1 Star.

I love with Father Ye introduces Jim and Tabitha to their lovely new home. Haha. And Jade has breakfast in the diner with Kenny who admits that they have chickens and cows and they have no idea where they come from!

VICTOR! He's counting distance from a house to trees to see 'how far the trees move'? Oh here is the annoying kid with all the questions again.

LOL, and the reaction of Jade when Frank is giving his solemn speech at the Choosing Day ceremony! IT's classic! +1 Star.

Julie chooses Colony House while Jim and Tab and the annoying kid will live iin the TOWN!

And then reality starts to seep into Jade when Kenny shows Jade his friends body.

A very good ep. 8/10.

Fear the Walking Dead: Close Your Eyes
(2018)
Episode 10, Season 4

'Whoever Is In Here? Get The Hell Out, Or I'll Kill You.'
It has taken me a while to GET INTO this season. But I swear it would have made this ep. SO much better if Charlie would have shot Alicia through the door when she was giving her speech. There is a chance that Charlie is going to turn out to be a GOOD PERSON and I'm not going to like that at all. -1 Star

A thing I find completely unbelievable in this season is how everyone keeps getting separated in seas of walkers yet somehow they manage to find each other again without too many deaths. -1 Star.

Started the ep. Over for the 3rd time because I'm really trying to find something good to talk about in this ep. And there's really nothing. I don't care about Alicia and I would have offed Charlie already.

This ep. Is really an empty one to me. And I've met my 600 so I'll just stop here!

3/10.

Fear the Walking Dead: Buried
(2018)
Episode 4, Season 4

You Want Relish? I'm Sure We Can Scare Some Up.
This ep. Really had me confused as to what the heck was going on. I mean is Nick dead? What's going on here?

Okay I must restart this ep. Because I am totally not following!

So two women going into a water park filled with walkers is really dumb. -1 Star

Then they slide stupidly into a pit of dead and don't get eaten. More dumb -1 Star.

The scene where John tries to keep Morgan to stay with the group was cool. +1 Star.

I guess this ep. Is about how the various members of the group gave up on the settlement at the stadium.. They realized the site was no longer viable.

And John, his strength is questionable at this time

This ep. Was really not good. Didn't like it at all.

4/10.

Fear the Walking Dead: Good Out Here
(2018)
Episode 3, Season 4

No. No. No. Nick! It's Going To Be Okay.
I gotta admit, I didn't really like them bringing Morgan over to this show, but I did enjoy the interaction between Nick and Morgan. +1 Star

If I was Morgan I would have offed Nick as soon as he got out of line. Morgan is too pacifist for my taste. +1 Star.

The scene where Nick has a walker on top of him, and Morgan saves him, the walker could have easily bitten Nick. Poorly shot. I hated moments like that with Glen on TWD, they happened all the time and I lost count of how many times Glen should have died. -2 Stars.

Oh man did they kill Nick off? Wow that ending was pretty intense!

Was not expecting that! +1 Star

6/10.

Passengers
(2016)

And Here I Was Looking Forward To Seeing This For Eight Years???
I really enjoyed the opening of this movie especially before Lawrence appears. +1 Star.

When he does wake up Lawrence, is sort of when illogic ensues. Of the 5000 passengers on the ship he has had a year to sort through, he picks JL because she is hawt I guess, and has an interesting backstory. Altho it seems if just spent a bit more time, he would have found a scientist, or an engineer. Someone who would have a better chance of understanding how they could resume hypersleep. Would have made more sense. -1 Star.

Now armed with that logic, why didn't she want to wake up more people or try to? Of course Jim never told her he woke her up. And of course at some point she is going to find out if he doesn't tell her. Like anyone can't see where that's going.

The budding romance is amusing as are the various hoops they jump through during the middle. Making out in the space suits was funny. Then of course they break a major rule of mine, strategic blankets covering certain parts just because, makes no sense. People who are alone together don't care where blankets lie. -1 Star.

Oh my, when he confirms to Arthur that there are no secrets between him and JL, and Arthur immediately just tells her that Jim woke her up lol....and i know it's War of the Roses time!!! +1 star.

Now, once Gus wakes up, and finds out he's dying, the next most logical step would be to wake up more crew that can fix the ship. Because obviously, there's no reason at all to have people remain in hibernation when the ship is dying. Really simple plot hole here.

And then of course, the last third of the movie, them running around trying to fix the plot hole. And of course they do, and all is well. And nothing at all happens really to float the bar one way or another and this ends up being just another Average Adam and Eve movie in space. 5/10.

They Look Like People
(2015)

I Really Love You Bro.
I really didn't find this movie to be that entertaining. It seemed sort of meandering.

The premise sort of reminded me of the current Series 'FROM' when it talked about 'They look like People', but the movie is hardly comparable in any other context to the series From. It is no where near as good.

It's also not really a horror as so much a thriller. I didn't really care for it much, but I did make it through to the ending.

3/10.

And IMDB has now made it so a review has to have 600 characters before it can be entered. I really don't expect that to last very long because people are sure to complain about it. But until that happens I guess we have to expect reviews to be long winded and sometimes about absolutely nothing to do with the show in question.

The Witcher: Betrayer Moon
(2019)
Episode 3, Season 1

What Sort Of A King Refuses A Dance With One Of His Subjects???
This is one of the best episodes of 'television' in recent history if not ever. However it is of course marred by the miscasting of Triss Marigold. Nothing against the actress, but Triss is supposed to be a red headed light skinned beauty and that's not what they made her here.

The epic fight between Geralt and the Striga was perfectly done, and overlapped with the transformation of Yennifer into the new and improved Yennifer just radiated cinematic GOLD.

Love the entrance that Yennifer makes at the end and all heads turn. But I do want to know when it was that Yennifer suddenly learned how to dance!!!! How does that work out???

8/10.

Nobody
(2021)

I Hope These 'Ashholes' Like Hospital Food
Wow. The beginning of the movie is good, with good performances by all cast involved. +1 Star.

A great fight scene on a bus even if it was a bit cheese. +1 Star.

And some other great fight scenes but it was pretty unrealistic, hence the 'cheese' comment. -1 Star

But they get to the end, and you have the fabulous Bob Odenkirk, Christopher Lloyd the legend actor still kicking and up for a firefight.

Really this movie is more like a Max Payne 4. Plenty of slow motion gunfights with intermittent cutscenes of dialogue.

Connie Nielsen is still beautiful. 'Are you not entertained???'

So after all is done this one gets a 6/10. Quite entertaining.

Savaged
(2013)

I Have Seen The Gates, But I Have Not Been Permitted To Enter....
A girl driving out in th CA desert, oh she's at the Grand Canyon! I lvoe the Grand Canyon! Weird tho because after they show a Grand Canyon sign I can still tell she's driving in CA. Ruh roh and after she witnesses a guy being rundown, she helps him into her car. But the hit and runners come back and turn that hit and run into a murder.

Wow, and that one dude is a heck of a shot at long distance with a pistol. The men scoop her up and take her to a house. And it appears they take some time for a bit of rape. Oh I just noticed this movie had a title change. Well that's a minus right there. We don't like title changes.

And it's a shame, because the bad men kill the poor deaf girl. Oh seriously she lived? Oh well there's one of those unbelievable plot points. Oh no. And then apparently a spirit comes back to possess her body? So confusing!

LOL okay when she guts the cop, that was fun. +1 Star. Oh and the close up archery? +1 Star!

And really at this point we're back at a 5/10. The rest of the movie, including the end, is a bunch of violence that really gets kind of boring since you know how it is going to end.

The Purge: Anarchy
(2014)

God Be With You All!
Wow there's an opening here by Jason Blum who is like the toastmaster for Cheeseball movies. I mean there's a few good ones here and there but lets see if this is one of them!

So the start is like most of the typical purge movies. Oh no it's danger time! The purge is set to begin for 12 hours! Murder is Legal.

Except this one is apparently about people out on the streets this time instead of in a house.

This movie has a lot of automatic weapons fire which occasionally hits. But really it's boring. Not a lot of plot just people running from each other and shooting a lot. I guess some people might like that sort of 'deep' thinking but for me it just didn't do much.

I do love the radio announcement 'There isn't much time left in tonight's purge. God be with you all!' LOL, dumb.

3/10.

The Hunt
(2020)

I'll Just Quote The End As Far As IMDB Allows....'It's F.....G Great!'
LOL, the beginning of this on the plane. Fantastic. Have an eyeball!

So this is a Damon Lindeloff joint eh? It's pretty hilarious. A comedic take on the whole rich people hunt down the hillbillies type movie. It's amusing because I figured to see more of Hillary Swank in this than there was. But it still fills the bill.

Some good deaths. And man is there a whole lot of stupid, but in a good way!

The end fight is fun. Like a Tarantino esqe fight almost but shorter!

7/10 !

And IMDB has now made it so a review has to have 600 characters before it can be entered. I really don't expect that to last very long because people are sure to complain about it. But until that happens I guess we have to expect reviews to be long winded and sometimes about absolutely nothing to do with the show in question.

Battlestar Galactica: Occupation
(2006)
Episode 1, Season 3

SIGN IT! SIGN IT! SIGN YOUR NAME!
At the start of this one we find Adama trying to figure out a way to defeat the cylons but he knows he doesnt have the force necessary to liberate the planet. Meanwhile, Saul is tormented by Brother Cavill. Dean Stockwell is awesome in this part isn't he? Such a perfect part for him rather than that silly time travel show.

Oh and of course Leoben and Kara continue their 'relationship' Haha Love Callem in this and man he went on to a lot of roles in movies and other shows. He was really great in Californication.

So I don't know what the point was here. The Cylons want to live with the humans? The humans keep fighting them with terrorist like attacks. Oh Cavill says we're here to spread the word of God. He suggests executions to help spread that Word!

I love the convo between the Adamas. Get your fat... outta here! Haha, Funny.

I just realized this is a very long episode. It does cover a lot. Oh man when Leoben comes down those steps with Kacey and says hey Kara this is your daughter. Bahahaha.

What I really love about this Season is this is when Michael Hogan actually shines bright! Colonel Tighe is my favorite character in the show.

And Sharon back in a uniform? Sharon Agathon? Baltar signing the death warrant of so many humans?

This is one of the best ep.s in the series.

Battlestar Galactica: Lay Down Your Burdens: Part 2
(2006)
Episode 20, Season 2

If She Gives You Too Much Trouble, Find Yourself A Younger One.
So we got an election and a battle on Caprica going on at the start of this one. After the reveal of the fix, Baltar is now President and everyone goes to settle on 'New Caprica'. Wow. They couldn't come up with something better than New Caprica?

So everyone is on the surface of this new planet. Even Saul and Ellen move to the surface. The Chief has become Union President! Rallying against President Baltar! Haha.

And then of course the dumb decision to move to the planet is proved as dumb as it can possibly be when a fleet of Cylons shows up to take Baltar and all the surface dwellers as prisoners.

6/10.

Battlestar Galactica: Lay Down Your Burdens: Part 1
(2006)
Episode 19, Season 2

To Be Continued.....
So we're still in Season 2, and we're starting to see weirdness emerging in the Chief. Psychodreamboy. And Baltar being antagonized by Six and he and Roslyn prepare to debate each other for the elections.

And then Dean Stockwell shows up as a 'Priest' to counsel the poor Chief after he beats Callie senseless when she wakes him up.

Anyways, a mission to Caprica! Jump Jump Jump!!!! And RaceTrack and her crew of screwups mess up their jump but end up finding a planet which can support life. And Richard Hatch. I'm so glad he got to contribute to this series. His life became all BattleStar after the first series.

As glad as Anders is when he meets Starbuck on Caprica, then he says he lost half his people that same morning. Wow! You don't lead with that? Losing half your people really doesn't translate into smiles and laughter and jokes that same afternoon.

4/10.

Battlestar Galactica: Downloaded
(2006)
Episode 18, Season 2

We're Alive.
Lots of flashbacks at the beginning as the stage is set for what this ep. Is to be about. The Downloading! There are 12 models!!!! And model #6 is quite the horn dog! Lucy Lawless! She's so fantastic in everything she's in. And back to when the 1st Sharon was shot and downloaded. She didn't seem happy to find out she is a cylon!

I really hated the Baltar hallucination accompanying Caprica Six. That was probably the dumbest thing in the show. Trapped in a collapsed basement with Six, and Sharon, and Lucy, Anders manages to eek out living when Six decides she's going to off her own species.

It's okay. Cylons want to kill humans but then umm, Cylons don't want to kill humans. I get it.

6/10.

Battlestar Galactica: The Captain's Hand
(2006)
Episode 17, Season 2

As Of Now I Am A Candidate For The Presidency!
So at the start of this one Lee Adama shows off what a D-Bag he is when he locks a barracks to have sex with Dee. Both of them freshly celebrating the death of Billy. How considerate.

And then we get the main plot of this one. The Pegasus has a new commander, the chief engineer Garner is now commander. And of course he's even more of a punk than Fisk was. The writers sure don't like the Pegasus crew. Garner has it out for Starbuck and Apollo.

Abortion becomes a fleet wide issue. Roslyn doesn't want to ban it but oh dear it might cost her the Presidency! Like a real life moral conundrum in reverse!!!

And then, Baltar, the goofball 'genius' who really acts like a buffoon half the time and the other half he's staring at walls and talking to himself. He's going to run for President! This really wasn't a great ep either.

But in the end, Garner dies, Lee gets his first command. (I really hated to see John Heard who is so great, used so briefly.) Baltar announces he's running for President.
