Chris Brown: A History of Violence
(2024)

Child he told this story
No shade! This story is not new. We have a whole felon in the biggest job on earth running a Nonblack house but here we go trying to continue to persecute Chris Brown! I am so tired of this narrative! I am surprised that the rating is as high as it is! Rihanna has forgiven him. They even had dates afterward. Let's face it. Chris Brown is a charmer! However, he is allowed redemption. How long must he be persecuted? It just gets annoying to see this narrative repeat and repeat continuously. I also hate how when the narrators talk like they were there. You were not there. You could do a whole story praising Chris Brown too! My hope is that the 19 year old Chris Brown has matured over 16 years since this happened! I really wish they would stop rehashing the narrative over and over again! This man has gone on to sell millions of records and has broken James Brown's records.

Pretty Decent
This was pretty tastefully done. I was shocked to see the one very low review so far. This movie has a heavy topic and in my opinion could almost be on Lifetime be because despite being about porn and a few very lightly risqué scenes, it's practically a PG movie.

I thought the cast pf characters were spectacular. Each person had a pivotal role when it came down to character development.

Tubi content for African-Americans has become so formulaic. I wish more films that are Tubi originals would have black folks dealing with life in a comedic melodrama. I just want to see Tubi branch out the repetitive topics! Thanks.

30 for 30: False Positive
(2024)
Episode 2, Season 5

What a great story
First of all, let me start by saying that I knew very little if anything about Butch Reynolds. Sure there was Carl Lewis and Michael Johnson, but the old media including television was not like the internet! A star could fade several lifetimes before folks knew you were gone. Thankfully Butch Reynolds is still alive and wants to be heard and acknowledged.

I am proud of what he has become but he made it clear that he still has a way to go at 60 years old. If you just go by the news alone it is pretty obvious that he went through what Janet Jackson did after Nipplegate but his challenges seemed even more permanent. Now that he has gotten too old his original career, I pray that he gets comfort in knowing that he is helping others.

The Night They Came Home
(2024)

Great cast
This of course is an underrated movie! A black and Hispanic cowboy is unthinkable?! Truth be told this is a refreshing based fact not fiction story as legend has made clear. I can appreciate a new outside of the norm - Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Little House on the Prarie and the Rifleman but there are still so many stories never told. I am proud that the director stepped outside of the box and.made a movie based on fact not fiction! There are a lot of haters making negative comments and they likely either do not know the history or just don't care to know. I am grateful and hope that this is one of the surprising Academy Awards win! You can never count out an underdog film.

The Available Wife
(2020)

Fine Terayle Hill and Sistas Star - A win
All of these negative reviews boggle my mind. Y'all will go on Tubi and praise all of those gutter snipe movies but dog this one? First of all, the production value was at least an 8. The storyline was convoluted but who cares! 😂 Terayle Hill's Chris Brown looking behind shines in this movie. I am sorry but he did his best with what he had to work with. This was basically a Tyler Perry movie on steroids. The gal from the tv show, Sistas, KJ Smith basically reprised her role because it was giving the same character type on that show. Was it realistic? It was basically a huge fantasy piece! Highly recommended.

Karen
(2021)

Perfect!
This movie is so far fetched that it actually works for me! Full of stereotypes and blatant racism. It's the ugliest example of a lot of our truths in our society. I promise if you break this movie into parts you would find a news story that actually happened.

I was looking through all the negative comments and found it hilarious that people found problem with most of the content. Please go back and review the ugly part of society because there isn't a thing in this movie that has not happened in the real world.

I hope they make a Karen II and show the male Karen aspect. The moral of the story is to learn from what was portrayed.

We don't tend to like us
I am not sure but our movies are generally rated low. I always expect our movies to be rated low and sure enough here we go. We have great actors. But I know most people feel great acting is not enough. However, we should look at everything - storyline, acting and believability.

I was blown away with the first few minutes. We may have needed some cinematography needs? But I really appreciated where the movie wanted to go. I think the movie did what it came to do.

I think the main actors gave stellar performances. I assume the budget was not in the hundreds of millions, but I saw quality moments in a lot of what was put together. Also, some of the surprises in the actors and actresses in this movie was terrific.

With that said, I don't know what other things would be needed to improve the rating. Again, very good acting and to me - definitely a "full" rather than an empty movie.

A Date
(2023)

Cute guys, good plot, sound issues
This movie had a lot of potential. Instead of being exclusive to Prime, it was definitely a straight to Tubi movie. 🎥 IHere were some challenges- The good: There were some good looking actors and the visuals were very good a times. The shakey and purposeful change of scenes using some 360 innovation was interesting. I guess that was meant to be innovative. I thought the choice of visuals were unique and it was hard to tell what parts of the state of California we were in until obvious visuals were given and that was a good thing.

Sound quality. There were times when the sound was perfect and then there were times the actors were as if they were under water. I had to turn on subtitles to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Overall, I was entertained. I am glad the movie was made. It did what it was made to do.

Best. Christmas. Ever!
(2023)

Brandy is an undeniable Christmas queen!
I am sorry but I love campy, gushy Christmas movies with an edge. I love a combination of realities that people might find somewhat unrealistic and I get allof bc if that with the warm and fuzzies this movie brings. It's so unrealistic but cute that it wins! I love this movie and will predict its timeless appeal for years to come. I hope this movie makes it to Netflix's top 10 this week and stays there through Christmas. The only thing I hate is that Brandy's Christmas album had a place in this movie that essentially must have not made production times or guidelines. Yet, I am glad this movie came out! It got me in the holiday.

Survival of the Thickest
(2023)

Top of the line
This is some great writing! This is definitely one looking to earn an Emmy! There are very few shows that come out that I even remotely consider binge watching. I watched this entire season 1 because I was hooked after episode 1. First of all, the cast is great! I knew when saw the entire cast and the pop ups that this was going to be a great comedy! How did the tell such an excellent story in such few episodes!!

My hope is that season 2 comes fast. No holding back. Give us new episodes in January 😂. Waiting until next July is ridiculous. I knew it would be good but upon watching it came across as great!

Romeo + Isabella
(2023)

Great movie!!
Aside from some amateurish filming moments, this was a very interesting movie. I really love the male actors. They were totally believable. I think the main character was also believable. That particular character had to grow on me.

I have seen a few movies related to this genre but this is truly one of the best acted. It almost put me back into the 1990s movies about hitting the block. Again the main reason this movie did not get a 10 from me was some of sound and visuals.

From Noah's Arc, Moonlight & Punks...no movie had such a creative mix of alternative lifestyles with trans lives. I would recommend it to anyone who simply want to learn more about a life they are unfamiliar with or they want to see lit up on screen.

Freshman Friday
(2020)

It was just below pretty good
I thought this was one of those movies that Blockbuster would have labeled straight to DVD but you pick it up because of the handsome man on the cover or the potential for a decent story. Before Tubi, I might have picked this movie up just to see a prospective new actor. Yet, when I actually watched this I found some interest in the cooky story. It held my interest. I was rooting for the underdog.

This movie was not designed to win Oscars or Emmys but it has a place in the somewhat mindless entertainment category. Maybe the viewer who wants the little chuckle and a story so unbelievably quirky you cannot help but get some laughs in.

Summer with the Guys
(2023)

Better Chocolate City - Sexy as Magic Mike II
One of the.biggest challenges with the 2015 Chocolate City series which followed the first 2012 Magic Mike was the corny stripper scenes in the former. It was the fact that no excitement in the guy's attire was shown. The moves were uneventful despite some well choreographed dancing. However, Summer with the guys is a stripper movie that gets it right. It's sensual and hilarious. The icing on the cake is that it was totally free on Tubi and it had a real soundtrack. You simply cannot beat a soundtrack and a hilarious movie.

Whoever put the cast together is to be credited for am awesome job well done!

Remember Me: The Mahalia Jackson Story
(2022)

She is grear! She is convincing.
Truly, there was only one Mahalia Jackson. However, Ledisi is very good in this. I love seeing her stretch her vocal ability. I give a 9/10 for being a convincing Mahalia.

I wouldn't go as far as putting her speaking voice in the same category but Ledisi is playing her part. I also the story is a 10/10. It's quite a bit more interesting than looking for portrayal flaws.

I also like the cast!. It is so well rounded! I love veteran actors and actresses! I like seeing folks of color working. We're on TV Y'all!

I would hughly recommend this movie. The nostalgia alone will take you there. Highly recommended!

Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody
(2022)

Awesome movie! A must-see!!
I am a person who studied Whitney like she was one of my research papers. Although I never saw her in concert live, I supported every televised event with VCR recordings, DVDs & eventually digital compilations after her death.

So, I went into this movie with a bit of uncertainty, skepticism and some hopelessness that her story couldn't be told properly. However, I left this movie with a feeling that someone got it extremely right.

Despite previews that were overanalyzed, this movie took many correct turns. Without any spoilers, there were likely only a couple of light misses, but the hits were over the top done correctly.

I appreciate the attention to detail. I appreciate the lack of mockery! I appreciate the uplifting of Whitney! I love this movie and it will be in my collection.

The Wiz
(1978)

The Wiz is a Classic! All haters beware
I love all the Wiz had to offer. Was it full of stereotypes? Yes. Was there a message for black people? Yes! Was there flashy lifestyles in Oz? Yes! Was it a masterpiece ahead of its time!?

Yes, the movie is ingenious. It should have won a freaking Oscar! It had so much more to offer than the original! I have watched it tons of times on video and now have it on Apple. It's just one of those gifts that just keeps on giving! I also like how Stephanie Mills has no animosity against Diana Ross despite Stephanie originally landing the role on Broadway. I feel like only thing this movie needed was a follow up of Dorothy's life 10 years later.

About Him: A South African Love Letter
(2018)

Underestimated this
This is some serious acting. The theme is so necessary for all of those who are interested in the plight of the LGBTQ community but going outside of the US perspective. About Him - original series were light and comical. I love this new take.

Yellow
(2014)

The Dark Skinned Brother
Dark skinned brothers get props. Great movie! I am looking forward to seeing the main actor portraying Harry Belafonte. He is an awesome entertainer. I would highly recommend watching any movie or television show he participates in.

Sneakerheads
(2020)

Not the worst
It is an interesting series. I am not sure why it has low ratings. I think the comedians do a good job of the compete and tactical act of balancing the sarcasm and the seriousness of the situations in their entirety.

It definitely should be brought back as a full series. There could be so many levels of intrigue added to this storyline.

Tom Swift
(2022)

Great show - underrated
This is a show about a black billionaire. It is well overdue to have wealthy black folks on television & its in a Dynasty futuristic type setting. Between the current climate and the "taking back our country " mentality some folks have, I found this show a perfect mix of fantasy & opening a mindset for real life black billionaires. I hope the CW reconsiders ending the show. I love it.

R. Kelly: The Verdict
(2021)

Great review of his career & a picture of his life
This was straight up full of who this man was. Not sure why it has such a low rating. It tells the truth. Everything from Aaliyah to the most recent cases, a picture of who he really was is revealed in this documentary.

ATL
(2006)

It's cute
It's hard to capture the real ATL but TI was definitely the guy to get it to almost perfection. The directing was very good. It was a once in a lifetime snapshot of how some in Atlanta live.

Sneakerella
(2022)

Great movie!
Finally, a movie about the black male. We never really get the fairy tales and it is marred here with negative reviews. I love this movie. I love the concept, theme and visuals. If you have not watched, then give it a chance.

For the Love of Ruth
(2015)

Great movie
Finally a faith-based movie with a lot of twists. I was very pleased. It showcased great acting and real problems without people of color complaining.

Kandi & the Gang
(2022)

Good show
I love the show. I hope we get to see more of the things that make the employees tick! I have high expectations of the portrayals of those in alternative lifestyles.
