Awake
(2012)

Cringey and nonsense
It would have gone better, I expect, without the unbelievably annoying and patronising old lady theraprist. Such an annoying character I don't know how Britten didn't just walk out and never come back. The wife with her grating whiny accent just about killed it for me. Is it really necessary to talk/whine through one's nose all the time? Do people talk like that in real life? YouTube American lady craft videos confirm this is how they talk.

The show was ludicrous but watchable but wrapped up quickly and conveniently deus ex machina style and, naturally, everything was ok in the end so what was the point of this nonsense?

Carmen
(2022)

What on earth was this?
As it's heralded as Carmen, and clearly veering towards Carmen Jones, I am utterly confused as to what this mess was.

Our Music Master introduced us to opera with the Carmen Jones more modern version. How much pleasure we gained from singing "stand up and fight until you hear the bell" and "down by the walls of Sevilla lives my good friend Lilias Pasta"

I'm just so confused as to how this had none of the operatics. It was awful and yet I was SO excited to watch this. It was a mismatch of desultory exchanges and unexciting converstions.\

Hitherto I could not have envisaged a bad version of Carmen. But this is it.

Clarkson's Farm
(2021)

I could watch this every day of the year
Full confession - I've always detested Jeremy Clarkson and have never watched Top Gear (so no clue why I didn't like him).

Then I watched season one and fell in love (NOT just with Jeremy but I think he's a great entertainer. I fell in love with all of them. Kaleb, Gerald, Charlie, Lisa and, of course, Pepper the cow.

What a fantastic programme. I love the beauty of the farm and the decency of people involved. I love the explanations of why things happen on farms. I love the way that no matter what happens they just keep trying.

Probably I most of all love the way this show highlights the crap that farmers have to go through. Ridiculous pettifogging and childish behaviour by the local Council . They should be hanging their heads in utter shame and embarrassment.

Can't wait for season 3.

Moonfall
(2022)

Cringey and Embarrassing
Honestly, maybe discount this as I could not finish this film because it was SO terrible. Just embarrassing really and I should check reviews before I watch something. Dreadful film - ludicrous plot, dreadful acting, clumsy dialogue. The whole thing was awful.

The Fugitive
(2020)

Kiefer Sutherland is so bad at acting
I could hardly believe any professional company would release this. Yes, we all know Kiefer is a one trick pony but honestly? This was embarassing. And why the stupid 8 minute episodes? Makes no sense.

Chloe
(2022)

An enjoyable piece of escapism
Fraught at times with the fear of the main lead (who was very good) being caught out. Strange seeing George Warleggan in modern times. But honestly I enjoyed this all the way through.

The Tourist
(2022)

Really Enjoyable Watch
I absolutely enjoyed this and watched it all within 2 days. The lead character and young police trainee were really well acted.

I almost always enjoy Australian films and TV shows - there's something about them that's so entertaining.

The Pursuit of Love
(2021)

How to anesthetize a classic novel
First of all I must confess I consider Lily James one of the most automated pilot netflixxy actresses going so maybe I was predisposed to despise this 'hammy' version of a British classic. But seriously, this is awful. It destroyed the whole mood, setting and character.of a classic British novel.

One for the Americans I think.
