The Perfect Couple
(2024)

Ignore the bad reviews! It's super fun!
A lot of hating on here! Not sure what the root of it is. But honestly, I love a good mystery and I got my whole family together just to see Nicole Kidman (since she always does them well!). I was worried because of the awful reviews but it genuinely was really good! I almost didn't want to watch because of the reviews, but please don't let them sway you. It's good!

Keeps you guessing until the end and the performances are dramatic whilst also funny. It's a really good time and I would recommend it to anyone.

Fun tip: my family and I always watch the first episode of a mystery and write down who we think did it after episode one is up and save it until the series finishes! This is a good one for it with only 6 episodes.

Grab a friend and enjoy. Ignore the silly reviews someone's hating on Nicole!

House of the Dragon: The Queen Who Ever Was
(2024)
Episode 8, Season 2

A whole season of preamble :( Soooooo slow!
House of the Dragon Season 1 was quite literally one of my favorite seasons of tv ever made. It was consistent in pace, compelling at every second, and the plot was constantly thick with turns.

THIS SEASON INSTEAD HAS MOVED AT A SNAILS PACE. NOTHING has truly happened apart from Rhaneys' death. I cannot BELIEVE this finale ended with a "promise of what to come" like we haven't committed 8 hours to this season?!

Daemon has been in a hallucinogenic state, Rhaena runs after a dragon all episode, Rhanerya takes NO steps of action when she finally has the upper hand, and another conversation between Rhanerya and Alicent takes up most of the show without anything truly coming of it when we know Aegon's gone.

I cannot believe this show has completely switched to one where for the most part nothing has happened. Scenes are dragged out and if you can believe it the war never starts.

House of the Dragon: Smallfolk
(2024)
Episode 6, Season 2

This season has been slow and wandering
This season has moved torturously slow. Rhanerya's character makes so few choices and seems aimless without daemon (and not interestingly. In a way where the story does not move forward). The daemon storyline is entirely hallucinogenic and has been all season! His scenes truly feel like they're adding nothing to the season. Then, I feel like the episodes keep ending in this half finished manner.

With only 2 episodes left what's going to happen? Aegon's pain and recovery is being stretched out, Daemon at Harrenhal is being prolonged, Rhaena's storyline has felt stagnant but continuously cut to, and the only people who actually DO something in an episode is Aemond and Larys.

I miss last seasons pace and the momentum of the plot. I feel like I keep waiting for war to start and that the seasons going to end before it does :/

Vampire Academy
(2022)

Ignore the Hate!!! Please!!!
I read Vampire Academy when I was in my early teens, and now I'm in my early twenties. Seeing this adaption come to life with such a beautifully diverse cast, and an effortless retelling of the story we love with additive twists to enhance the readers viewing experience-has been such a delight. Watch the show for the chemistry between ROSE AND DIMITRI alone. This Dimitri is utterly perfect.

It's vampire academy-not true blood, or house of the dragon. It's obviously not the most dramatic or revolutionary story. It's FUN and SEXY and is super entertaining for the book readers. Watch so it can get renewed!! And shout out to Sisi who is a delightful Rose.

Purple Hearts
(2022)

IRRESISTIBLY heartwarming! Watch this movie!
Ignore any and all bad reviews. Today I was having a pretty meh day and just wanted to watch something that I could easily disappear into. I remembered Purple Hearts was number 1 on Netflix for awhile and just at first glance it seemed like a cheesy forgettable romance that I could easily distract myself with.

I actually fought liking this movie. I wanted to write it off as corny, and sure some of it is (it's a *romance*, that's to be expected!!), but genuinely it is SO endearing. You can tangibly feel the emotion behind the filmmakers, as well as the beautiful chemistry between the leads.

It completely won me over. I went in mostly blind, I suggest you do too.

Also-Its one of the few movies/works of art period I've seen addressing the (terrifying and) stark divide in our country right now. And! The filmmakers suggest the solution for that is more love and that's something I can get behind.

Watch! Watch! Watch!

The Cat in the Hat
(2003)

For adults tbh
Honestly I loved this film when I was a kid and now I'm 23 years old and I'm in tears laughing at this movie. The Cat is UNBELIEVABLY funny. And the film still has a great message. On another note, the production design and costumes for this film are INSANE! Love love love. Need to smile tonight, do yourself a favor and watch.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part II
(2022)
Episode 2, Season 1

Bumped up from a 7 to 8 just because of that ending
My hope is that the Leia storyline is over and we're about to get into territory we don't even know about yet! If this show is about Anakin on the hunt for Obi Wan I am fully seated and very excited.

Still have my fingers crossed for a flashback scene with Natalie Portman.

The New Edition Story
(2017)

BEST BIOPIC EVER MADE
Should've been drowning in Emmys. Truly best biopic I've ever seen. Black excellence and a beautiful time to be alive and see it air live. Desperate for BET to make a vinyl for the cast recorded soundtrack.

Atlanta: Sinterklaas Is Coming to Town
(2022)
Episode 2, Season 3

What show is this
Slow and Boring. Not good at all and why aren't we in atlanta :( like Darius is a completely different character? They're all playing themselves at this point as well.

Nine Perfect Strangers
(2021)

I love you Nicole but no!
Boring. Mama and I waiting for the whole series to come out so we can just binge it. For such an impeccable cast, we're 4 episodes in and have gone nowhere.

Dead to Me
(2019)

A MUST binge
I've been desperate for a good binge! But nothing too serious but also of high quality. Something that could make me laugh and keep me on the edge of my seat. This (first season) is PERFECT. Don't hesitate to watch this, and grab a friend. This is a FUN, wild ride.

Secret Obsession
(2019)

Do NOT listen to these reviews-HAVE FUN!
Secret Obsession is a popcorn movie. It's incredibly entertaining and as an audience member you are quickly invested. My sister and I just wanted to be able to watch a film and scream at the TV and this gave us just that. Secret Obsession is not trying to be an academy award winning film. It is a perfect B thriller for what it is and worth your time.

Mare of Easttown: Fathers
(2021)
Episode 2, Season 1

Some of the best TV I've seen in years
This episode knocked me off my feet. So rarely do you have an hour of television where constantly each scene something is happening AND new information is being learned. They've found a way to make the town so interconnected that learning anything about their personal lives FEELS integral to the case. So every second counts. This episode doesn't slow down. If this is how it starts I'm THRILLED to see how it progresses.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1
(2010)

Best film of the franchise.
I've loved and grown up with Harry Potter. Just needed this to be documented somewhere. I feel like people overlook this one. This film SCENE to SCENE is spectacular. There is no dull moment and the editing is CRISP.

Judas and the Black Messiah
(2021)

This is the best film I've seen in a long time
I cannot recommend this film enough. It is shockingly good. Incredibly scored, paced so engagingly. I was worried going into it I'd be experiencing another film showing the horrible abuse on my people, black people. Instead, this film focuses on the black people at the forefront of the war. And their dynamics. It focuses on black men and how much of an impact black men have on society and why they are constantly torn down or taken away. It's simply amazing.
