"Strange Events" sort of cash in on the success of "Stranger Things", not only by its title, but also by its title music which is very reminiscent of that TV series.
Regardless, I decided to watch "Strange Events", even though I had no idea what I was getting myself into, aside from it being a horror movie. Turned out that this was a horror anthology. Yeah, I know right, and I was going 'oh, this is going to be interesting', as I really like anthologies.
But the matter of the fact is that "Strange Events" wasn't particularly interesting or entertaining. In fact, I ended up turning it off after 46 minutes of enduing a less than mediocre foray into various aspects of horror. Now, it should be said that some of the segments that I managed to sit through were interesting and definitely had potential, but others were downright abysmal and so boring you want to claw out your eyes.
I gave up after 46 minutes of being relatively bored. So I just opted to toss in the towel and not finish the rest of the movie, especially because I felt my eyelids growing more and more heavy with each passing segment.
Some of the segments actually had fairly adequate acting performances, and it was also nice to see unfamiliar faces on the screen - which is something that I definitely enjoy. But it wasn't enough to lift up this sinking movie experience.
If you enjoy horror anthologies, then your money, time and effort is better spent elsewhere.
