Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Sonic 3 director Jeff Fowler and voice actor Ben Schwartz talked about the film’s latest character, Shadow (voiced by Keanu Reeves), and Jim Carrey playing two versions of the mustachioed villain Robotnik.

Fowler expands Shadow the Hedgehog’s origin in the upcoming film, giving longtime fans something to look forward to. Prof. Gerald Robotnik genetically engineered shadow, creating a speedster with teleportation powers. I continue to be surprised at just how well the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has done. Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (Poff) has selected a further 14 features, including 11 world premieres, to complete the lineup of its Official Selection Competition.

The new titles include the world premiere of Serhii Kastornykh’s Ukrainian feature The Mousetrap. Shot during a break between Kastornykh’s military service periods, the film follows a soldier trapped alone in a bunker on the frontline of the Russian war.

U2 have announced a 20th anniversary reissue of How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, which will be accompanied by a “shadow album” titled, How to Re-Assemble an Atomic Bomb, featuring previously unreleased songs from the original recording sessions. The two albums will receive a dual digital release on November 22nd, with How to Re-Assemble receiving a standalone physical release on November 29th

How to Re-Assemble consists of 10 songs selected from the early 2000s recording sessions. The American Cinematheque has announced the schedule of events and list of speakers for this year’s Proof Film Festival, which will take place from Oct. 18-20 at the Culver Theater. The Alien franchise is set to continue on the small screen with an “FX on Hulu” TV series called Alien: Earth, from Fargo creator Noah Hawley. The show began filming in Thailand last year, then had to halt production after a month due to the actors strike. Filming resumed earlier this year and wrapped a couple of months ago – and while speaking to Deadline while on the Emmys red carpet, Hawley promised that the show will have Xenomorph moments that are so scary, it will make viewers lock their doors.

One of the first things we heard about the Alien TV series – and one of the most surprising things about it – is that it will be set on Earth (thus the title), a couple of decades before the events of the first movie. FX chairman John Landgraf has said the show will take place “right near the end of this century.

"Smallville" began as a Superman origin story, showing Clark Kent (Tom Welling) growing up as a Kansas farm boy in the early aughts. His best friend? Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum), of course! About halfway through, it became a straight-up Superman show that just didn't have the title or costume. Once you introduce the Justice League, you're out of the "prequel" period.

As this change happened, "Smallville" got very liberal about bringing in DC Comics characters — Clark even fought friggin' Darkseid in the 10th and final season! That makes two big absences stand out all the more. Batman and Wonder Woman, Superman's closest comrades and fellow parts of the DC Trinity, never show up in "Smallville."

Paramount Pictures has just released the first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and it puts the spotlight on fan-favorite Sonic rival Shadow the Hedgehog (voiced by Keanu Reeves).

Jeff Fowler is once again returning to the helm for the third movie, and he has quite the history when it comes to Shadow, having worked on the actual Sonic games.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 released its first trailer and featured Sonic’s iconic antagonist Shadow the Hedgehog, played by Keanu Reeves. Reeves joins the ensemble cast of the threequel led by Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, Jim Carrey, and Idris Elba. After Reeves bagged the role of Shadow, fans are now fancasting one Star Wars actor in the role of Silver the Hedgehog.

As if that wasn’t enough to send fans into a frenzy, Dragon Ball aficionados are equally ecstatic about the alleged return of René García, the Spanish-dubbed voice of Shadow, and the iconic Prince Vegeta.

A few hours ago, Paramount Pictures released the must-see first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Now, we have some official stills (via GameFragger.com) from the movie, and those include a first look at Jessica Jones and The Defenders star Krysten Ritter.

Initially, we'd heard speculation she might be playing Rogue the Bat. Since these images dropped, there's been some speculation online that she could be Maria Robotnik, the cousin of Doctor Robotnik in the games and Shadow's friend and companion. However, she's named as Director Rockwell in official press materials from the studio.

We'd imagine it's Keanu Reeves' iconic anti-hero most of you will be interested in and he's also featured heavily in these new stills. Paramount and filmmaker Jeff Fowler have delivered what looks to be a pitch-perfect take on the character and, visually, the threequel looks more like the games come to life than even its well-received predecessors.

Fans may not know that the Sonic 3 movie version of Gerald Robotnik hides a major dark secret. 

The first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 finally raced onto the internet after months of waiting, showing off plenty of Team Sonic action, the return of Jim Carrey's big-screen villain Dr. Robotnik, and a first official glimpse at Keanu Reeves as the eternally angsty Shadow the Hedgehog (read more about Shadow). 

Shadow has long been teased as a major plot point in the Paramount threequel and was the focus of a final post-credits stinger in Sonic 2. However, how the beloved video game character would come to life on screen has remained a significant question for fans since that movie's release.

Though shows like "Fallout" and "The Last of Us" are often credited with lifting the video game adaptation curse, we don't talk nearly enough about how much the "Sonic the Hedgehog" movies had already lifted the curse before them. The first two "Sonic" films were commercially successful, widely appealing, and otherwise entertaining features based on the iconic Sega character. Sure, they don't really adapt a particular game, yet those films nevertheless capture the essence of the "Sonic" characters while throwing them into new situations.

Now, the trilogy is coming to an end with "Sonic the Hedgehog 3," a movie that finally brings one of the most popular characters in the franchise into the live-action realm. Paramount has released the first trailer for “Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” which introduces one of the blue speedster’s most iconic foes, the evil Shadow the Hedgehog — who’s voiced by Keanu Reeves. The “Sonic” threequel will premiere in theaters on Dec. 20.

The third film — which was greenlit prior to the release of 2022’s second installment — will explore new areas of the video game universe created by Sega. Though plot details have been kept under wraps, the post-credits scene of “Sonic 2” teased the inclusion of Shadow.

Alongside Ben Schwartz as Sonic, the live-action cast from the previous two movies — comprised of Jim Carrey as the villianous Dr. Robotnik, James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachowski and Lee Majdoub as Agent Stone — will reprise their roles.
