The film was inspired by the case of Dr. Jean-Louis Muller. Cleared of all charges on October 31st, 2013, Muller took offense to the program and its accompanying web-series which was to allow viewers to watch the film's aftermath and vote on the outcome of the fictional court case. Muller's lawyers went to court arguing the concept and voting process calls their client's innocence into question and as such broadcaster Arte and production company Maha were ordered to cease any distribution of the program on any format, deliver ten thousand euros to Dr Muller and an additional thirty thousand in damages.
