Athens Homicide Chief Kostas Charistos interrupts his vacation to investigate the discovery of a body after an earthquake on the Greek island where he was staying with his wife, daughter and her boyfriend. But he also has to deal with the murder of a young Albanian couple.
Journalist Ghianna Karaghiorghi is found dead. Kostas tries to understand who silenced the woman and why, just as he must also cope with the death of his father, an old policeman who served during the military dictatorship of the Greek "colonels".
Commissioner Kostas, with a sore shoulder, refuses every visit. The murder of Koustas, a well-known entrepreneur and owner of a nightclub, brings him to the attention of agent Nikos, who immediately competes with Petros.
Having suffered a heart attack, Commissioner Kostas is forced to be hospitalized. Klio, a young and brilliant secretary, identifies the body that emerged from the earthquake, revealing a connection with the Koustas case.
Despite doctors' unfavorable opinion, Kostas returns to work. Caterina is seeing Fanis, the doctor to whom Kostas owes his life. The case of Koustas' murder turns out to be more complicated than expected.
Kostas and his superior Ghikas secretly agree to try to understand the reason for the strange suicide on live TV of Favieros, a well-known businessman with a past as a political opponent during the years of the dictatorship.
After Favieros, also the politician Stefanakos kills himself in front of the cameras. For Kostas the "common thread" between the two is their past as political opponents. Only Zisis, a former political prisoner, could help him.
