Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin are at it again, stealing the limelight with their split rumors. Both top-rated celebrities in the entertainment industry with commendable credits to their name including the actress’ Am I Ok? and the singer’s all-time fan-favorite A Head Full of Dreams, it seems like things aren’t exactly working out for this duo.

Of course, Hollywood has seen quite a lot of iconic pair-ups with unexpected people finding chemistry that either resulted in marriage or a split, and Martin and Johnson were a fan-beloved addition to that list. However, recently, the actress was seen without her $450,000 ring while out in public, and now speculation is rising about the presumed high tensions between the duo.

Stephen King has never been shy about expressing his opinions, and his 2013 comments on popular YA and erotic fiction series simply proved his outspoken attitude. Sending shockwaves through the literary world and fandom, the horror genre writer surprisingly took aim at Twilight and even attacked Jennifer Lawrence’s The Hunger Games.

In an interview with The Guardian, Stephen King dissed popular works of fiction that have been adapted into films, earning millions. Criticizing Stephenie Meyer’s series, while going ballistic on Suzanne Collins’ trilogy, King also dismissed Fifty Shades of Grey. “Patience is a virtue”, they say, and for Marvel fans, it’s practically a superpower. While the cinematic universe has had its fair share of hits and misses—think the underwhelming reception of The Marvels—there remains a flicker of hope. Who could forget the grippingly twisty tales of Loki or the pure fun of Deadpool & Wolverine? But what’s adding a spring to everyone’s step and perhaps even shooting some web-fluid high into the sky? None other than the highly anticipated Fantastic Four: First Steps, slated for a 2025 release.

Dakota Johnson was feeling a little jittery while shooting “Loser Baby,” a short film that serves as her directorial debut and will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. But it wasn’t nerves that put her on edge.
“I discovered Celsius on day one of filming,” she said at Variety’s Toronto Film Festival studio, sponsored by J. Crew and SharkNinja. “I didn’t know that it was like Red Bull. I thought it was a natural drink.”
At first, she attributed the energy surge to being in the zone. “I was like, ‘I’m so creative. I’m so inspired. I’m awake all night long. I’m not sleeping, because I’m just thinking…,’ Johnson recalled. “And it’s because I was having like two Celsius a day. I thought it was vitamins. I didn’t realize I was basically overdosing on caffeine.”

Daniel Craig’s stellar run as James Bond came to an end with the 2021 movie, No Time To Die. Starting from 2006’s Casino Royale, Craig has established himself as one of the best iterations of the character seen to date. Now, with Eon Productions looking for a replacement, all eyes are on the studio as they attempt to finalize the creatives that will be behind the upcoming movie.
Daniel Craig stars as James Bond in Skyfall I Columbia Pictures
For a long while, legendary director Christopher Nolan had been earmarked as the ideal choice. However, that seems to have changed for the time being, with the producers reportedly looking for a more traditional approach, and a “safe and seasoned pair of hands” to ensure the franchise’s continuity without overshadowing Bond’s character with a distinct directorial style.

Could Nicole Kidman score a fifth Best Actress nomination for her performance in racy thriller Babygirl, which has just debuted at the Venice Film Festival?
The short answer is yes. The longer answer is that it’s complicated.
In the Halina Reijn-directed erotic-thriller, Kidman plays a high-powered CEO who puts her career and family on the line when she begins a torrid affair with her much younger intern (played by Harris Dickinson).
The early word on Kidman from critics here on the Lido is very positive. Deadline’s Damon Wise said: “It’s hard to ignore the amount of dedication, not to mention naked flesh, that she brings to the role….Kidman really goes the distance, imbuing Romy with a psychological vulnerability that is missing from the film it most obvious sounds like (50 Shades of Grey) and presenting a unique reversal of the film it most obviously looks...

Boosted by Locarno-awarded debut Instinct, Dutch actor-director Halina Reijn fit nicely in the A24 canon with her satirical thriller Bodies Bodies Bodies. Yet the latter elicited rather lukewarm critical responses and it almost seemed Reijn might have been a one-hit European wonder fallen prey to the American dream. Then came Babygirl. As one of the first competition titles to grace the Lido, it promises a lot: not only does its title roll off the tongue with a delightful ring, it leaves one feeling a bit giddy (and a little naughty) for having uttered it aloud. Let’s not forget this is a film about a tech CEO / star mom / perfect wife (played by none other than ice queen Nicole Kidman) submitting to a much-younger intern (Harris Dickinson) to the point of literally eating from his hand.

Like a sheep in wolf’s clothing, Halina Reijn’s surprisingly genteel “Babygirl” might bare the occasional fang, but it doesn’t have much bite. For all the superficial similarities to “50 Shades of Grey” — here too setting a lightly sadomasochistic relationship within a world of affluence, all while tacking on a much dreaded age-gap imbalance to send social media’s most ardent moralists into a tizzy — this dom-com plays more like an outré spin on “Working Girl,” updating Reagan-era wishcasting for the social set that has decided Kamala Is Brat.
Premiering at this year’s Venice Film Festival and set for release this December, “Babygirl” could easily emerge as a holiday season guilty pleasure, a sexy-but-never-dangerous star romp that streamlines kink for maximum commercial play. Teasing out fantasies of power exchange in the safest possible space, audiences can have their cake and eat it too — even if the...

Unless you’ve been living on a secluded island or Amish country, adaptations of novels to screen is not a new concept to you.
It’s become one of the most common formulas for creating movies and TV shows.

While not every project is a knockout, audiences have seen some successful franchises flourish from this method.

The big-screen adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey was one of the biggest projects in Hollywood from the moment it was announced, and fans could not stop wondering who would portray their favorite characters.
Of course, Dakota Johnson was cast as Anastasia Steele alongside Jamie Dornan‘s Christian Grey. The movie took her star power to the next level. However, she faced stiff competition to land the role.
The risque plot, which flirted with Bdsm and featured multiple intimate scenes, made the franchise a risk for Hollywood, but it was one that paid off. Years later, the movies remain some of the highest-grossing projects with R-ratings.
Casting such a big project generated a lot of buzz at the time. Though we have a hard time imagining anyone but Dakota playing Anastasia, she wasn’t the only actress in the running.

Hollywood star Dakota Johnson returned to the screen taking on the titular role in the superhero film Madame Web. The movie, however, has been widely panned as one of the worst superhero films. It also became notorious not only for its lukewarm reception but also for Johnson’s blunt and disinterested attitude during its promotions.

However, her behavior might not be entirely surprising considering her challenging experience with the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise, a chapter that had a significant impact on her career. And it might also explain why she appeared so unhinged while promoting Madame Web.

Dakota Johnson had her breakthrough playing the role of Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades of Grey film series. Despite being critically panned, the films received significant success at the box office, making $1.3 billion worldwide.

Dakota Johnson is undoubtedly one of Hollywood’s most promising actresses, famous not only for her acting but also for her beautiful features. While celebrities engage in a lot of things to keep their appearance and face in check, Johnson has a rather unconventional approach to maintaining her Greek goddess looks.

Opposed to El James’s novels, the adaptations have significantly less full-frontal male n-dity. However, prior to the release of Fifty Shades Freed, the final installment in the Dakota Johnson-led trilogy, it was rumored that her costar, Jamie Dornan, was offered $1.5M to bear it all.
But despite these rumors, the theatrical release didn’t see the actor going full-frontal n-de onscreen, and Dornan even later debunked the rumors of being offered $1.5M to do so. Moreover, according to director James Foley, he did go full n-de for the film, which never made it out of the editing room.

What was once old is completely anew at the box office with the booming success of Sony and Wayfarer Studios’ It Ends With Us which opened to a surprising $50M this weekend.
Nobody saw this coming weeks ago, the pic arriving on tracking to around $15M, and it was only evident in the final run-up this week that this Blake Lively starring and produced, Justin Baldoni starring and directed title would pop to somewhere north of $40M+; which makes perfect sense given how movies, particularly those aimed at women, are marketed in the final run-up to their opening to stoke the fanbase.

Sunday Am Update: Here’s how the weekend is settling: Ryan Reynolds is first with Marvel Studios/Disney’s Deadpool & Wolverine‘s third weekend at $54.2M. Blake Lively is second, but with a very strong $50M for It Ends With Us.

The box office is still relying heavily on “Deadpool and Wolverine” to get us through the slower month of summer, but this weekend could offer an unlikely surprise. Read on for Gold Derby’s box office preview.
After two weeks at #1 and hitting $400 million domestic, “Deadpool and Wolverine” may finally have some competition, though it’s going to be tough to beat if it’s able to make $50 million or more in its third weekend, which is definitely possible.

“Soap opera” is a term that conjures cliché images. In hindsight it’s a rather sexist phrase, like the studio-system category of “women’s pictures.” Soap operas have always dealt, at times in depth, with women’s experiences. When the phrase came into vogue, in the 1960s, soap operas were what housewives watched on network television in the afternoon (I’d watch my mother get absorbed into them). One of the many ways that they were unfairly sneered at is that the culture gave no credibility to the fact that soap operas were a serial form, which allowed them to slip into the nuances of a dramatic situation. Sure, they featured broad acting and a certain mannequin-model handsomeness and beauty, yet they gripped people — mostly women — because there was something vital and alive in them.

In the 2018 sequel, the irreverent antihero ponders whether his movies will ever be able to pass up the $370.8 million collected by Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ in North America and become the biggest R-rated film of all time, not adjusted for inflation. While the first Deadpool overtook Passion of the Christ globally ($782 million versus $612 million), it couldn’t claim that same feat stateside.
Reynolds finally got to see that wish come true over the Aug. 2-4 weekend, thanks to Deadpool & Wolverine, which has smashed one record after another since its launch more than a week ago, including stellar midweek business that put its seven-day domestic cume at a stunning $298.3 million through Thursday.

Keira Knightley has been captivating her audience ever since she played a small role in the Star Wars franchise. She went on to find her breakthrough role in Bend It Like Beckham and soon became the actress on top of everyone’s favorites list. Keira Knightley’s most recent performance was in Matt Ruskin’s Boston Strangler where she starred as Loretta McLaughlin, the reporter who broke the news about the serial killer murdering thirteen women in the 1960s.

As for her personal life, the actress is married to musician James Righton with whom she tied the knot back in 2013. Just like any other good husband, James Righton is happy with his wife’s success and does not feel undermined by her popularity. However, the same couldn’t be said for Keira Knightley’s ex, Jamie Dornan.

The interesting events of House of the Dragon Season 2 have prompted fans to take a trip down memory lane to Game of Thrones. Several moments in the Og series still excite fans, however, the fate of Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targaryen is not something they want to remember with fondness. Fans agree that her one decision if made right could’ve earned her the throne much earlier on the show.

Every Game of Thrones fan knows how crucial Catelyn Stark is to the story, especially when it comes to the Red Wedding scene, and for those who’ve read the books. The Stark family matriarch has always been a key figure, and even years after the series ended, she’s still remembered fondly. This isn’t just because of the character’s importance but also thanks to the actress who played her.
Still from Game of Thrones (HBO)
Whether it’s good or bad, the cast is defined by the seasons and episodes. Unlike movies, TV series make audiences recognize actors for their long-term roles. So it’s a bit strange to think that the mother of the famous Stark could have been played by anyone other than Michelle Fairley.

HBO’s House of the Dragon hit its highest mark to date in Nielsen’s streaming ratings for June 17-23.
The series racked up 1.23 billion minutes of viewing on Max for the week after its season two premiere (and including a few hours of viewing for the second episode on June 23). HotD‘s previous best showing was 1.02 billion minutes midway through its first season. Streaming figures for the show don’t include linear viewing on HBO.
The 1.23 billion minutes for House of the Dragon placed it fourth overall for the week, behind repeat leader Bridgerton (2.47 billion minutes), Your Honor (1.95 billion) and Prime Video’s The Boys (1.29 billion). About 60 percent of Bridgerton’s total came from the final four episodes of season three, which premiered June 13. How do you write a love story? For some authors online, it’s as easy as turning their wildly popular fan-fiction into a version that keeps all of its heart — and uses none of the copyrighted intellectual property that would get them sued. It’s called “filing off the serial numbers,” and the process has transformed from a surprising way for internet-first authors to be published, to a veritable pipeline that turns fics into mainstream romances.

Dakota Johnson’s involvement in Sony’s Madame Web was indeed an unforgettable experience after she realized it was not a franchise suited for her. The movie received a lot of backlash from fans, but that does not mean the actress has lost her fan base. In fact, she has a strange one that is too bizarre to comprehend.

‘Madame Web’ was released a few months ago to a lukewarm critical reception and low audience rating, something we’ve come to expect out of Sony Spider-Man Universe movies. The movie was also a notable box office bomb, but it did see some moderate success on Netflix when people rushed to watch the movie which generated so many memes and online chatter.
Cast members like Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney already commented on the movie’s success, or the lack of it. Johnson blamed the studio executives who meddled in the movie trying to mold it to be everything for everyone and made sure the audience knew that the script that eventually was shot is not the script she signed up to shoot.
Johnson landed herself in hot water with the studio, but it’s not important, the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ actress said she would never do something like that again.

Dakota Johnson Spoke Out About “Psychotic” ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Author’s On Set Demands. (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Dakota Johnson is one of Hollywood’s leading actresses. She made her on-screen debut in the 2010 Oscar-winning film Social Network. Johnson gained mainstream recognition after being cast as Anastasia Steel in 2015’s Fifty Shades of Grey, based on E.L. James’s novel of the same name.
The franchise, which included three films, grossed $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office. However, the film’s success came with its own baggage, replete with on-set feud rumors. The rumors were not addressed until seven years after the release of the first Fifty Shades of Grey movie.
In 2022, Dakota Johnson spoke to Vanity Fair about the creative clashes on set, saying if she could only portend how “psychotic” things would turn out, she would not have signed on to do the movie.

Who will direct the next Bond film? David Michôd and Kelly Marcel are reportedly in contention, as well as All Quiet On The Western Front’s Edward Berger.
Yesterday came a report that Edward Berger, director of the horrors-of-war epic All Quiet On The Western Front, is among the names being considered for the next James Bond film.
To that list we can now reportedly add Kelly Marcel (pictured), who’s currently putting the finishing touches to this autumn’s Venom: The Last Dance, and David Michod, who broke through in 2010 with his acclaimed crime drama, Animal Kingdom.
This latest report comes from Jeff Sneider, who seconds World of Reel’s earlier story that Berger is currently being considered by Eon and producer Barbara Broccoli.

Filmmaker Sam Taylor-Johnson, 57, posted a rare intimate photo with her husband, actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 34, on Instagram Monday. The image, taken at the Glastonbury Festival, shows the couple embracing, with Sam wearing a khaki Marfa Stance jacket and Aaron sporting a denim jacket over a white t-shirt.
The post comes after Sam recently addressed public interest in the couple’s 23-year age difference. In a May interview, she expressed surprise at the ongoing fascination with their relationship, which began when they met on the set of Nowhere Boy in 2009. They married in 2012.
“The interest was more intense when we first got together 14 years ago,” Sam told BBC Radio 4’s This Cultural Life program. “People want to understand things when they can’t fathom a certain love story that doesn’t fit in a box.”
Sam noted that while public curiosity has diminished over time, it tends to resurface during press events.

Several years ago, Netflix shook things up by not only including top ten charts on its platform for viewers to see, but the streaming giant also made a whole website dedicated to sharing viewership metrics. It has provided an odd window into what people are watching on the world's largest streaming service at any given time. At the moment, a whole bunch of people are watching a new action flick called "Trigger Warning," which stars Jessica Alba as an ass-kicking Special Forces soldier/bar owner.
As of this writing, director Mouly Surya's film is sitting firmly in the number one spot on the Netflix movie charts ahead of the DreamWorks animated flick "Home" and Universal's "Fifty Shades of Grey." The latter film's star, Dakota Johnson, has been having quite the run on Netflix, as Marvel's "Madame Web" recently dominated the charts as well -- but that's another story altogether.

John Krasinski’s “If” (Paramount) needs strong post-theatrical results to make it a success. Initial results from PVOD ($19.99 rental), which reached #1 right away at both iTunes and Fandango, suggest it is headed in the right direction.
In the short term, it might be able to sustain that pace; its main competition will be this week’s release of the underperforming “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.” More critical is whether it can sustain multiple weeks at higher levels. With a $110 million before-marketing cost, $180 million in worldwide gross needs supplementing.
Richard Linklater’s “Hit Man” is sustaining its run. Netflix’s $20 million worldwide acquisition, after an above-average 10 days as #1 on its top 10 movie viewing chart, is still at #2. “Trigger Warning,” a far less-acclaimed Netflix original, is currently #1. The action/thriller title, which stars Jessica Alba and is the American debut for Indonesian director Mouly Surya, was filmed nearly three years ago.

The Savannah College of Art and Design is again bringing a generous helping of Southern hospitality to France’s Luberon Valley for the Scad Lacoste Film Festival, which runs June 27 to 29. Now in its third year, the fest was conceived as a top-up highlight for college students doing their semester abroad at Scad’s sumptuous campus in Lacoste, an inexcusably picturesque medieval village in the heart of Provence.
“[Scad founder and president] Paula Wallace always wants to make sure our students have access to the best of everything,” says Christina Routhier, executive director of Scad Theaters and Festivals. “The focus [at Scad Lacoste] is on film majors: acting, directing, production, costume design. So it was a perfect fit to bring in a film festival.”
The event is a complement to the school’s long-running main fest in Savannah, Georgia, which runs Oct. 26 to Nov. 2. Attracting talent to Lacoste, with its Instagram-ready cobblestone streets and lavender fields, hasn’t been a problem.

‘Banshee’ Alumnus Ulrich Thomsen Takes on ‘Cancel Culture,’ Post #MeToo World in ‘Sugar’ (Exclusive)
Danish actor Ulrich Thomsen will direct “Sugar,” dealing with “cancel culture,” the post #MeToo world and sugar-dating.
“It’s a love story. It’s about people’s loneliness but, apparently, I shouldn’t be telling a story about two girls. It’s a strange thing to deal with, artistically. Pisses me off,” he said.
“I am a fucking boomer, which must mean I am an idiot. And the only thing I did wrong is that I’ve aged.”
Thomsen, currently on the jury at Monte-Carlo Television Festival, will play a small part in the film alongside his daughter. He is planning to shoot early next year.
“Its logline is: ‘Everybody’s greatest weakness is their desire for pleasure.’ And for money! That’s true, still to this day, and it will fuck with everything. Would Weinstein continue on for so long if he didn’t have anything to sell?”

Let’s be honest: we all have seen at least one erotic flick in our life. Sometimes they can be really called art, for example, in the case of the South Korean hit The Housemaid (2010), Michael Fassbender’s Shame (2011), and Nicole Kidman’s The Beguiled (2017).
The majority of dramas that contain erotic elements are, unfortunately, nothing more than cringe. These include, of course, the notorious After franchise (2019 - 2023) and 365 Days (2020), but the 2015 movie we’re going to talk about is literally the perfect cringe.
Its plot revolves around an awkward college senior who once decides to replace her sick roommate to interview a powerful businessman. She is about to realize that their encounter is going to change her life completely, as her interviewee gets drawn to her.

Eddie Redmayne now knows Warren Beatty is a true friend he can rely on.
On Tuesday’s episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers, The Good Nurse actor recalled being involved in an online scam a few years ago where his email got hacked and all his contacts received money requests.
“I was actually in New York at the time and I had a big night the night before,” he explained. “And I woke up in New York and I turned on my phone and I listened to this voicemail. And I turned to my wife [Hannah Bagshawe], and I said, ‘I think Warren Beatty has just left me a voicemail checking [if] I’m okay and whether I need money.'”
“I was sort of hungover and trying to make sense of this thing,” Redmayne added.

The Madame Web actress made her name known all around the world with the erotic drama trilogy Fifty Shades of Grey (2015 - 2018) and the horror film Suspiria (2018). However, Dakota Johnson is also very much of a comedy performer.
Although the romantic comedy How to Be Single (2016) and the dramedy The Peanut Butter Falcon (2019), that starred the actress, weren’t quite successful, the 2022 movie that is now holding the second place on HBO’s global top is truly a must-watch.
The plot of this comedy-drama revolves around Lucy, a 32-year-old woman who seems not to make it through coming of age yet. Her only interest in life is her best friend Jane, who is about to leave her soon as she announces her moving to London.
It’s high time for Lucy to figure out who she really is and what kind of feelings she has for Jane. As she reveals a long-held secret,...

It's only natural when a person tries to be trendy, always making attempts to fit in with society and not seem like a black sheep. So all these people make sure that they like and dislike the same things as the masses.
But sometimes life jokes on you, and what you hated to be part of the community turns into your real guilty pleasure. From that moment on, there is nothing you can do to make it go back to normal, so you are stuck with a franchise that everyone thinks is creepy, but you secretly admire.
There are many examples of this, but here are 5 of the most outrageously so-bad-they-actually-are-good franchises for your night.
1. Twilight (2008 – 2012)
There is no way we would have started this list with any other franchise! Twilight is the ultimate example of the love-hate relationship between movies and viewers, and there's no denying it.

One of the most popular sources for anime adaptations today is the website Shousetsuka ni Naru, translated as “Let’s Become a Novelist.” Anybody may publish their work there for free. Stories that win a devoted readership are scouted to become light novels and anime series. These include isekai titles like Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation , Ascendance of a Bookworm and My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! But there are also court mysteries ( The Apothecary Diaries ), romance ( My Happy Marriage ) and self-contained novels ( I Want to Eat Your Pancreas ). China and Korea have their own vibrant web fiction scenes. Stories published on sites like Qidan and KakaoPage have been adapted into comics, television series and even Japanese anime. What you may not know, though, is that there is a growing English language web fiction community. It does not yet compare in scale or prestige to its counterparts in East Asia.
