Storyline: Aditya (Bala Krishna) is a loner who is depressed and he stays in Malaysia. He has no interest in his life and always appears lost. Indu (Priyamani) is the daughter of a billionaire businessman and she studies in Malaysia. Her astrologer back home tells her the attributes of her ideal choice and those attributes meet that of Aditya's. After a few failed attempts, Aditya accepts the proposal of Indu and gets married to her. The rest of the story is all about why Aditya is depressed and is about the real reason behind Indu chasing Aditya and marrying him.
Artists Performances: Balakrishna is really handsome as Aditya. He underplayed himself in many scenes of the movie. It added a lot of aura to his character. Priyamani exhibited some oomph in her character and she also has a nice footage in the movie. Brahmanandam is entertaining as JB Zen (Jana Bethedu Janardhan). Deepak did an important role in this movie after King and Arundhati. Krishna Bhagawan is also entertaining. Ranganadh, Balayya, Chalapati Rao, Srilatha and others are adequate.
Technical Departments: Story is penned by Vijayendra Prasad and is really well studied and well written. Direction is adequate. Mahadev could not replicate the commercial elements like his mentor Rajamouli. He disappointed on the whole. Astrology/Predictions are the villains in this movie more than the actual villains. So, there was no scope of infusing any commercial elements in the movie. Screenplay could have been better.
Music by Manisharma is satisfactory. Dialogues by Ratnam are fair enuf. Cinematography and Art direction are good. The Production values of the movie are really good.
Summary: Mitrudu is a soft movie with no commercial elements. The Plus Points are a different Balakrishna and a nice flashback episode. On the flip side, this lacks commercial elements and so, may not attract the front seats. Moreover, the relevance of the title to the story needs a good explanation.
