This seems to be the year of Hindi remakes of South Indian hits, what with every Friday release banking heavily on either the original box office successes of Tamil or Telugu films. This week, after the official remake of ‘Bholaa’ last week, comes ‘Gumraah’, a yet another Hindi remake of the Tamil film, ‘Thadam’.

As per the credits, ‘Gumraah’, helmed by debutant director Vardhan Ketkar, is a crime thriller and is based on several real-life stories of two identical twins from around the world. For a thriller to engage audiences for two and a half hours, the storyline itself must be interesting, and on that count, the film has a very fascinating premise.

The trick of enjoying Gumraah is two-pronged: go with zero expectations, and if you haven’t seen the original Tamil film Thadam, you would be hooked to the story of identical twins (told apart in the Hindi version by one of them wearing printed shirts) who meet in a police station as prime crime accused after one of them snuffs out a wealthy suburban guy , apparently to steal his 20 lakhs.

But hang on! Nothing is as simple as it seems. Not that Gumraah revels in unnecessary complications. Mumbai, March 14 (Ians) The song ‘Soniye Je’ from the criminal thriller film ‘Gumraah’ hit the airwaves on Tuesday.

The music video which stars Aditya Roy Kapur, has its music composed by Vishal Mishra. Vishal also serves as the lyricist and singer on the song.

The track has been programmed in the genre of synthpop with choreography by Aadil Sheikh.

The music video is in line with the sound texture of the synthpop and features a neon colour palette in prominence.
