Two of the Firefighters seen in this segment, Patrick Brown and Pat O'Keefe, were killed at the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11th, 2001. Patrick Brown was then the Captain of Ladder 3 and Pat O'Keefe was still a member of Rescue 1. Both companies lost more than 10 men at the World Trade Center. Another, Firefighter Kevin Shea, was severely injured in the first World Trade Center attack in 1993.
