Kadalpalam

This is a Malayalam language film starring Sathyan.

It's an excellent family drama with detailed character sketches of each of the supporting cast. Who equally do justice to their roles with in depth performances.

Sathyan in a double role is a treat. Especially in the last 15 minutes of the film you can see him living the role, trembling in rage at times. He won a State award for his performance.

The film is truly a hidden gem in the sense I don't realise why it has so few and such low ratings on IMDB. More than the fewer ratings I wonder why the few people who have, would rate it this low on IMDB, for such a classic film.

The film's title means the bridge over the sea and is symbolic of the merciless protagonist. Those around him know love and harmony only by forsaking him, and he in turn only sees that as their treachery. Again symbolised in how even when his eyesight is restored, he refuses to let others know that he can see.

He does wrong (stays blind), knowing what he is doing, just so that he may have his way.

Well written, well directed. A highly recommended watch.
