Georges, a street singer with a golden voice in 1930s Paris, is noticed successively by the director of a cabaret, then the director of a circus. His friend Armand, smarter than he seems under his simple exterior, manages to organize a hoax to show Georges that all these people are only interested in exploiting his voice at the lowest cost.
From a street singer to cabaret to circus to opera ,it is a short step,if we are to believe the screenwriters ; the principal is a tenor ,and his friend serves as a comic foil to him ;this is a far-fetched story , the purpose of which is to enhance Georges Thill 's golden voice and his songs : half melodrama and half musical , it features an unusual animated scene in the cabaret and an act with the singer dressed up as a (very cheap) automaton .
