Director Aaron Fradkin explores the enduring, grisly horrors lurking within the bowels of a New England home via an experimental triptych. Co-written with Victoria Fratz, Beezel begins with an appropriately gnarly child death in the ’60s, shot on Super 8, kicking off three different experiences with witchy terror stretched over six decades. Fradkin puts heavy emphasis on scare-crafting, ensuring every second...

It's summertime, and the living is sleazy when it comes to Vinegar Syndrome's latest releases on Blu-ray. Today we're looking at their May and June output - sorry, we got a bit behind - and there's a little something here for everyone. Four of the five releases are horror (or at least horror-adjacent), with films like cult-fave Slaughterhouse, indie hero Adam Rifkin's satanic slasher Psycho Cop Returns, chilling ghost story The Hearse, and the giallo-esque Double Exposure. The final film on today's roster is Malibu High, a film that delivers more than you might be expecting. Dig in to the capsules below for more details!...

Stars: Robert R. Shafer, Barbara Niven, Miles Dougal, Rod Sweitzer, Nick Vallelonga, Melanie Good, Julie Strain | Written by Dan Povenmire | Directed by Adam Rifkin (as Rif Coogan)
You know, it wasn’t until the release of Detroit Rock City that I realised that a) Adam Rifkin and Rif Coogan are one in the same; and b) just how many of Rifkin’s films I considered amongst my favourites at that time: Never on Tuesday, The Dark Backward, The Chase and, of course, Psycho Cop Returns. Mainly because they were films I remember renting on video (you couldn’t escape trailers for The Dark Backward back in the VHS era) and seeing on Sky’s movie channels in the days when you could be guaranteed to find an “obscure” film screening as filler between their big-name flicks!
Psycho Cop Returns came at a period in horror movie making, which also included...

What is it? Two old college friends cross paths as adults and beat the ever-loving crap out of each other.
Why see it? Onur Tukel’s latest is also his best thanks in part to the lead performances by Sandra Oh and Anne Heche. They do a good job of manipulating our sympathies and concerns ensuring that our loyalties shift from act to act. Themes of female friendships, class distinctions, and redemption run through alongside a satirical look at modern life, and there’s a terrifically wicked streak throughout. Funny, smart, and brutal are all apt descriptors for this cynical look at our violent selves.

Tuesday, April 25th boasts an array of diverse Blu-ray and DVD offerings with a great assortment titles both new and old. Lionsgate is releasing one of the best zombie films I’ve seen as of late, The Girl With All the Gifts, on both formats, and the most recent sequel in the Underworld franchise, Blood Wars, arrives this week on 4K Blu-ray, as well as the typical Blu and DVD discs, too.
Scream Factory is resurrecting both The Screaming Skull and I Bury the Living on Blu this Tuesday, and Arrow Video has put together a fantastic 2-Disc Special Edition set for Caltiki The Immortal Monster that fans definitely will want to pick up.
Other notable titles coming home on April 25th include a special edition release of The Vampire Bat, Mean Dreams, Detour, From Hell It Came, and Psycho Cop Returns.

Chillerama has been on my radar ever since I saw the trailer, which made it look like the horror throwback to end all horror throwbacks. Cheesy practical effects, ridiculous plot lines, and basically everything great you would find in your average campy retro horror flick. Besides, with such talents as Adam Rifkin (Psycho Cop 2), Tim Sullivan (2001 Maniacs), Adam Green (Hatchet), and Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2) involved, how could I not see it? "It'…...

It’s that time of the year, Killer Fans! We are back with our annual Halloween Watch List. Besides some of our writers recommending flicks for October, we will be bringing in a few of our friends who work in the industry to see what they watch at the most wonderful time of the year for genre fiends.
Adam Rifkin is no stranger to the horror genre, having directed Psycho Cop 2, The Invisible Maniac and “Wadzilla”, my favorite segment from Chillerama.
The Exorcist (Original cut only)
Still the best horror film ever made, in my humble opinion.
Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein
My favorite movie when I was a kid. The perfect blend of scary and funny.
Night of the Living Dead
The “Breathless” of zombie movies. The zombie movie that broke all the rules and inspired a genre. The zombie movie heard ’round the world.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
So gritty it feels real.
